kellythestarr 39 Posted June 27, 2012 I never once had acid reflux until surgery and it sucks! What is the reason for it? What can I take?
PdxMan 4,292 Posted June 27, 2012 When was your surgery? It can be for a few reasons. Any OTC PPI will work. Gas-x with eating for a pre-emptive strike helps some.
smiley2604 36 Posted June 27, 2012 Depending on when your surgery was, it should get better about 3 to 4 months in. At one point I took Prilosec and then graduated to Calcium tums. I hardly ever have to take anything if I stay away from spicy foods and I can't lay down to quickly after eating.
lollyfidy1965 402 Posted June 27, 2012 My surgeon prescribes liquid Zantac for a period to 3-4 months post-op. It doesn't taste great, but it works like a dream for me. (I had horrible reflux immediately following my surgery, due to inflammation in my stomach blocking passage of anything.) I've not had any problems with acid since starting the liquid Zantac. krenee 8 Posted June 28, 2012 I am glad I am not the only one suffering with this. Never had it before, but ever since the surgery some days it's the worst. I just take my meds and close my eyes and wait for the feeling to pass
