Acid Reflux Is Killing Me

Recommended Posts

When was your surgery?

It can be for a few reasons. Any OTC PPI will work. Gas-x with eating for a pre-emptive strike helps some.

Depending on when your surgery was, it should get better about 3 to 4 months in. At one point I took Prilosec and then graduated to Calcium tums. I hardly ever have to take anything if I stay away from spicy foods and I can't lay down to quickly after eating.

My surgeon prescribes liquid Zantac for a period to 3-4 months post-op. It doesn't taste great, but it works like a dream for me. (I had horrible reflux immediately following my surgery, due to inflammation in my stomach blocking passage of anything.) I've not had any problems with acid since starting the liquid Zantac.

I am glad I am not the only one suffering with this. Never had it before, but ever since the surgery some days it's the worst. I just take my meds and close my eyes and wait for the feeling to pass
