SV2 57 Posted June 27, 2012 I'm scheduled for lap band to sleeve revision on August 8. At my psych eval, the therapist admitted to having had a bypass (she's still quite thin). She said that after the surgery and weight loss that my life would completely change. She then said my life would change in ways I couldn't imagine. So my question is this: what major life changes occurred for post-opers, and did they have changes that they could not imagine before surgery?
Dooter 1,457 Posted June 27, 2012 Well, I didn't have to imagine. I used to be thin and not too bad looking. I LONGED for the changes that surgery would bring. Slowly but surely I feel like i'm returning to myself. I just never dreamed it would actually happen.
2bsmallagain 156 Posted June 27, 2012 I also used to be thin so that will not be a shock for me. I know how differently people treat you when your small and how different you feel. I feel like she is also talking abou psychologically. You will not be able to rely on food as your comfort or crutch anymore. You will have to find constructive instead of destructive ways to deal with things that food took care of. It is a hard transition but can be done if you keep focused on healthy vs unhealthy ways to deal with stress and everyday life. Good luck! You will go through some things along the way but it will all be worth it in the end.
