GI283 35 Posted June 27, 2012 Didn't on mine but that was because it was specifically excluded on my specific group plan to lower the premiums. I think they do as a general rule.
Heather86 :o) 29 Posted June 27, 2012 From what I read, they do!!! The drs office told me that my bmi is 46... :/ I was worried because they told me that my insurance was good with rny approvals with my stats, but since at that point, I did not know anything about the sleeve, I had said that was what I was interested in. I have since done research and decided that the sleeve was a better option for me. Sorry for rambling and thanks so much for finding what I couldn't, lol!!! JourneyOfAFatKid 6 Posted June 27, 2012 They did for me! You have to have a BMI of 40 or greater OR a BMI of 35+ co-morbidities 1 Heather86 :o) reacted to this
Heather86 :o) 29 Posted June 27, 2012 They did for me! You have to have a BMI of 40 or greater OR a BMI of 35+ co-morbidities Thanks! I didn't know whether they would or not since some still consider it experimental. The drs office said since I have a bmi of 46, that it will be easier to get approval. I hope they are right. I saw where some people are getting declined or having to do an appeal... that sounds so overwhelming to me... :/ Eta: I'm pretty sure they have different insurance than I do though. I was just hoping someone might know the answer of whether it was even possible for me.
JourneyOfAFatKid 6 Posted June 27, 2012 Yeah initally I had a lot of trouble because my BMI was at 39.6 and I didn't have and co-morbs and they still wouldn't approved me. I got denied 3 times and then was told I wouod have to wait 6 months and re submit. So in the 6 months I gained 5pounds and got my 40BMI and an approval! That's crazy that you had to do all that, just to get approved. I'm glad you got it though! Congratulations and good luck!!
