Wolfgirl1978 256 Posted June 26, 2012 Hi! Welcome! I was sleeved 2 weeks ago today. I'm glad to hear your doing so well! I'm also bored at home, I'm spending way too much money because of it, lol. I go back to work Monday.
jessica0728 11 Posted June 26, 2012 Have you started eating more foods yet? I am going back to work next week as long as I don't lift how about you?
Gene1970 179 Posted June 26, 2012 Welcome Jessica!!! I was sleeved on the 13th and have been doing great as well. I'm back to work 1/2 days and feeling great. The diet through my dr has already progressed me to solids with the limitation of not eating chicken, red meat, Pasta, rice, and potatoes until 2 months out. I can eat deli chicken or turkey now, any seafood I want and soft cooked veggies. I can also have fruit. I hope your diet will allow that soon, it's nice to progress to that point. kimmy*custis 276 Posted June 26, 2012 Yaaay Jessica, welcome! I too went crazy at home, I had to take 3 weeks after, the doc wouldnt let me go back any earlier. I was ready 5 days after surgery! I was able to do soft foods at 2 weeks, hang in there, it will come sooner than you think. Congrats to you and again welcome to this site, you will love it! Katie713 423 Posted June 26, 2012 Welcome! Yeah, getting to the pureed/mushy stage is a welcome change from fluids..luckily the Fluid stage isn't too long...one of the first things I added was just soft - canned chicken mixed with chicken gravy on soft mashed potatoes. In the early stages this meal sat well with my new tummy. Good luck....enjoy your soup!! (inside joke)
Gene1970 179 Posted June 26, 2012 How long are you on full liquids?
jessica0728 11 Posted June 26, 2012 Full liquids for 1 more week I am eating basically Jello, pudding, chicken broth, beef broth, cream of chicken Soup, carnation instant Breakfast, yogurt and sugar free Popsicles...I tried eggs whites a couple of times but they didn't sit well...is there things I am missing that I don't know about lol? Gene1970 179 Posted June 26, 2012 It all depends on the Dr. Mine said I could do things like cream of wheat and thinned out oatmeal in the same phase as the creamed Soup. Of course my Dr has a pretty agressive phase back on food. 2 days of clears, 4 days of mushies, and then solids on day 7... Just softer solids like the deli turkey. But during the early phases I had some thinned out oatmeal which felt a bit more like solid food... it at least gave me something to chew.
iegal 460 Posted June 26, 2012 Welcome to site! Please be careful about wanting to force food back in. Your new "sleevie wonder" is healing. Ask your doc before you introduce foods before schedule. All surgeons have different diet plans and when you can go back on solids. Depends on how they sewed up your stomach and their experiences. Some error on the side of caution. Just remember you will be chewing foods again soon. Congrats on being sleeved. PS - scrambled eggs made me sick but overeasy and diced hardboiled eggs did not. Go figure. 1 Wolfgirl1978 reacted to this
Wolfgirl1978 256 Posted June 26, 2012 I attached a list of eating progression list ( hopefully its attached, lol) my surgeon wants us to go by. Scrambled eggs sit good with me. I'm gonna try some oatmeal later today. Beans made me sick.
jessica0728 11 Posted June 26, 2012 I never thought of mashed potatoes! I happened to have a bag of reg mashed potatoes (where you just add water) I tried a few bites of it and it isn't bad!! I thought it would hurt or be uncomfortable but not to bad as long as I took small bites (which happens to be the thing I have been struggling with the most) so that was a nice change! Thanks so much for all of your help you guys are great!
