Has anyone experienced acne after weight loss? It has been really bad for me the past couple of months. I haven't had such bad acne since I was in high school. I would think it would get better, since I eat healthy and non greasy foods. I plan to go to a dermatologist soon, but will try an acne treatment first.

It depends on whether its pimples or black heads, but i use a honey and lemon treatment to get my skin up to par... Slice a lemon in half, put a drop or two of honey on it, and rub all over your face paying special attention to acne prone areas like forehead, nose and chin. Let it sit for 5 mins then rinse with cold Water.

The acne you are experiencing is not food induced, just like in our teen years, it is hormonal. As you lose fat, the hormones trapped there are released. I am pre-op, but believing this is only temporary. ;)

I have extremely oily skin and my acne has never stopped, although it was better than my teenage years pre-op. Post-op, I've had a few of the cystic acne places I remember from high school, so I've been carefully treating those places. It's nowhere near as bad at 10 months out as it was at 3 months out, so I think it's finally calming down.

I'll take some acne over the 100 pounds of fat any day, though! :)

The first few weeks post-op I did have some moderate acne. I attribute it to "flushing" out the system. Now its much better and I am not getting the cystic acne I used to.

The few month pre-op it was HORRIBLE- I think it was because that was when my eating were just disgusting.... :(

I am drinking a lot, a LOT! I drink almost 2 gallons of the diet lipton citrus green tea a week on top of my other fluids. I also think that the drinking is helping my skin stay elastic and happy so if I do get the occational break-out, it can heal quicker.

If you do find yourself with topical acne, get a good "spot treatment" from a good cosmetic line. I use either Burts Bees Tea Tree oil or the Origins Spot Remover.... works like a charm. But if you have cystic acne, then I would recomend a derm, cause theres not too much you can do that deep down.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
