Yoda 0 Posted October 27, 2006 I haven't actually been to someone's house for a meal yet BUT I have had people at MY house (who do NOT know about the band) and have been at restaurants with people (who do not know about the band). To be honest, I think people are so wrapped up in what THEY are doing that they won't really notice it if you don't make a big deal out of it. That is what I have experienced. What they HAVE noticed is that I take a long time to eat. I tell them it is part of my "eating healthy kick"....to eat slower so that I enjoy my food and cut down on my portions by doing so. I find that in situations like that, I put more food on my plate than I normally would...and, of course, end up leaving a significant amount....but as far as they know, I took a "normal" amount and just didn't eat it all....in other words I don't think they notice I don't take a normal amount....then I eat a wee bit and have a wee bit left and they just think I ate a normal amount and left some. I haven't had anyone notice. If they do, I'm all set to say that my eyes were bigger than my stomach or something along those lines. I mean, if you push your food around and stuff and take teeny bites and chew a lot, they don't know it is the same bite and the same chewing of the same bite so they don't really notice. I have no idea if any of that made sense; it did in my head!
loriely 0 Posted October 27, 2006 Sometimes my pb,s last anywhere from 5 mins. to about 20 mins . I had cup of Soup one day for lunch , then i drove kids to Zellars ,all the way there i was not feeling good so i pulled over and pb . I can't eat some foods. Foods that i can't eat so far are; shrimp, noodles in soup, almonds (had a little chicken guy ding) ,carrots are iffy. I am afraid to try anything new. :think
Lila 0 Posted October 27, 2006 In the past when I've been dieting and I did not want to be tempted, I'd just show up after dinner. Or have people come to my house cause I feel more in control. I've not had any band related issues yet. I do find people in general are too focused on food and eating out, not on just being together .
Yoda 0 Posted October 27, 2006 *hugs Loriely* there, there.....poor thing. Does Mr. Loriely have the same experiences? I can see it now, "I slime up more than you" "NO, I do!!"....."oh yeah, come see mine". LOL. Lila: I hear ya!! Too many "gatherings" revolve around food....people can't seem to get together without it....I never noticed that before and it drives me mad now!!! Maaaaaad, I tell ya, maaaad! Okay, off to bed now folks....I've been on and off here all night....'nuff is 'nuff! LOL
argon 3 Posted October 27, 2006 'night Yoda! And yes... I agree. Too much has to do with food! It IS maddening!!!! I'm curious. I don't/haven't ever HAD to PB. I discovered I could do it (or what I think is it)... and it truly IS a productive burp. Its like I make myself burp, but a little differently than I normally would, and stuff comes up. I've never HAD to, but I feel like I should, and its worse waiting it out, but I can, if I try/need to. What do you guys define as a PB? I always thought that it was us 'expelling' the offending food. But almost never has there actually been food in what I burp up. It's just slime. Food-tinted and maybe a little mushed food, but not actually distinguishable 'offending' pieces. (like something that you would think would be the cause of the problem) Sorry.. it's gross, but I'd like to know
loriely 0 Posted October 27, 2006 How are those Cookies you made for Mr Yoda ? Yes he has pb,s but he mainly slimes too.
Yoda 0 Posted October 27, 2006 Mandi....my PBs are what you just described....I don't actually burp (tho I wish I could)....exactly what you described is what comes out....and I don't know how there can be so much of it!! LOL. aaaaah, the Cookies. Welllllllllllll I'm not so sure what I was thinking....I was never very fond of pb and bananna sandwhiches.....and this pretty much tastes like that!!! But Mr. Yoda likes them....so all is not lost. At least I know I won't need to worry about eating 'em! Now, if they were just plain pb....oh yeah!!! Anyways, it made like a TON so I kept about a dozen of 'em and I'm taking 2-3 times that amount to work with me today with a note on the tin: "free to wanting tummy". They'll go that way! LOL. hey, but the house smelled yummy!
CLOE 0 Posted October 27, 2006 Going back a bit to Wheezys concern, I have days when I'm tighter and others where I can eat just about anything. So sometimes when I'm with others I can eat almost normal, but when I'm tight, thats when I have to get creative with my reasons, and Yoda is right, most people don't notice. loriely 0 Posted October 27, 2006 Argon pb is the whole contents of food in your pouch.Sometimes i think i ate to much because alot comes up.
argon 3 Posted October 27, 2006 So, if there's not actually food, just food-laced slime, you wouldn't call it a PB?
Wheezy 0 Posted October 27, 2006 My first Pb the other day in Ottawa, it started with food and followed with lots of slime...slime...food....slime...slime......I forgot to tell you, after that episode I went to the meeting. The meeting lasted about 31/2 hours. When it was over, I was again starved, so I stopped at a Tim Hortons on the way home. I ordered a coffee and a biscuit. I thought that a biscuit might be safe. Had a few bites of the biscuit and then the PbS returned. Earlier at costco, I purchased some plastic cups, they were in my trunk. I stopped the car went to my trunk and put a couple of cups in the car. So I drove and pd, and I drove and pd, At one point I realized that sooner than later I should stop for gas, my car was on empty. I stopped in a little village on my way home where I knew I could pay at the pump and not have to go inside to pay. While I was putting gas in my car, I pd three more times on the pavement beside the pump. What a sight!!!! I'm sure they have me on the surveillance video secretly hoping that I never stop to buy their gas again!!!!
loriely 0 Posted October 27, 2006 No i would call that slime.I can't believe where all the slime comes from.Sorry to be gross.
loriely 0 Posted October 28, 2006 Sorry to hear about your episode of pb's Wheezy. It is not fun. I am afraid to eat in a restaurant; just in case i am sick. Oh well we will save money .
Yoda 0 Posted October 28, 2006 hmmmmm okay, well I've never brought up actual food.....just the slime stuff that Mandi describes....so I guess I've never pb'd then....only slimed. I feel for ya Wheezy! You may need to have to keep a cup in the car at all times!! Biscuits are going to be hard because the more you chew it the more "gummy" and "gluey" it gets.....like bread....ya know?
