Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals

Recommended Posts

The bad news... I just found out I have a huge mass in my lower abdomen/uterus area, probably a massive benign fibroid tumor (hopefully that, and not something worse). It's about the size of a freakin football.

The good news, the whole thing, and likely my uterus will have to come out, It's going to be easy to make my 8lb goal this month.

Man I have a dark sense of humour... especially in times of stress.

Leila, so sorry about your medical problem, here's hoping the prognosis is a good one for you. Sometimes having a sense of humour is the only thing that gets us through these tough times. I did it myself when i was told i had breast cancer. I wish all the best for you.:D

Lila, I ate so much before my pre-op diet that I was looking forward to the diet. Once I was on the diet, I wasn't so thrilled with it. Got through it though, and yes, I'm sure you will make your 8 pound goal!!

Cloe, I also think your body heard you. Send some yelling my way, please!

Mandi, I realized after I asked everyone to check out Aussie Chick that everyone has probably seen the pics already. I forget that I am still virtually a newbie. Aussie Chick's pics are quite inspiring.

Leila, sorry to hear about your medical problem. I have fibroids, nothing that large but I know someone that had a fibroid that was quite large. For me the first Dr. wanted to do a hysterectomy. Since I didn't want a hyst., I requested a second opinion. The second Dr. performed an endometrial ablation. This procedure is much less invasive and is only day surgery. Other solutions include medications to keep your estrogen levels down which I did try, but I could not tolerate the meds. Just keep in mind that there is always more than one solution. Good Luck to you!!

Cloe you are too funny:laugh :( The strange thing is i still get nervous everytime i step on the scale that i am going to show a gain, just like i did with all the other diets i was on. I know it can happen, or reach a plateau and not lose anything for a while.

Maria:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
