How Much Should The Surgery Cost?

Recommended Posts

I am getting mine in mexico, how much should it cost by itself? Of course it depends on the doctor but what is the average range in dlls?

This is a really hard question to answer. The surgeons each have their own fee.

Find out what it covers when researching which surgeon you want to do your surgery.

Do you want to be in a hospital, in case of complications? Some surgeons send you to a recovery house, which is not a hospital.

I'm having mine in Fort Worth Tx. Cost for everything, surgeon, hospital stay, pre op, post op, nutritionist, anesthesiology, entire package $13,800. I don't know if that is high or low but what I've searched it's an average price. In Mexico I've researched $4,000 to $8,000. I hope this helped. Good Luck

Dr. Aceves charges 8750 which includes everything, other than airfare. They pick you up at the airport, take you for all your preop tests, take you to the beautiful hotel and pick you up in the morning for surgery. You're hospitlized for 3 days then picked up and returned to the airport.

I'm also doing mine in Mexico... $7500, plus plane and hotel for the first 2 days before I go into the hospitl... so an extra $1000 for that. Plus, with an extra 2 days, I get to do some site seeing before the surgery.

Definitely worth it. If I had tried to have the surgery here, I'd never be able to have the surgery. The insurance God's deamed that to be so.

My health is a whole lot more important than a denial from my insurance, so BLLLAAAAHHH on the insurance companies out there that don't get it.

I had surgery with Dr Kelly in Tijuana MX on May 10th this year. It cost $5500 plus airfare.

That included 2 nights in the hospital, then 2 nights in the hotel Lucerna. Had a great time & no complications!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
