The thing is, if you're thinking you're going to throw back a plate of Pasta or half a pizza that won't ever happen. However, you're still early out yet and your stomach is swollen. Your sleeve will expand slowly - it'll take a few months to heal. You should be, eventually, able to eat most if not all of the foods you used to. That's an advantage of the sleeve over R-n-Y. Good luck!

Yep, I can usually get 4 to 5 bites of something and then I'm totally done. I feel full to the brim. But now I look at how good I look and how great I feel, and it's all worth it. Try not to focus on the amount. Just enjoy every bit that you can have now. Savor each bite. You will be thankful as time goes by. We really don't need to eat a lot of food to survive. :) Your doing great by the way. Keep it up.

Jeff (may I call you Jeff?), It is frustrating to only be able to eat a tiny amount of food. That restriction will ease up as you heal, although never to the same volume that you could eat before. Take a few deep breaths and focus on why you had this surgery. That should help with your immediate uneasiness. As you progress through the stages, you will soon come to the solids phase, where you can eat whatever you like ... and all of your favorite foods will be waiting for you, just in smaller amounts.

I can eat anything now that I enjoyed pre-op, including steak and veggies and taters and ... the list goes on and on. I make very different choices now than I did pre-op, but that's part of working with the tool (my sleeve). I'm going to my family reunion in a few days and I anticipate having a biscuit and gravy. One of my cousins makes them just like my granny made them, which I cannot do. I may only eat half a biscuit and one spoon of gravy, but I'll enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed a full plate back in the day. You will enjoy all those foods you liked before again, just in smaller portions. :)

What you're feeling right now is normal. In a few days you'll be feeling much more normal and you'll be living as if you'd never had surgery. As long as you keep up your Protein and Water intake, you'll do very well.

Good luck!!

For me, that 1 pice of pizza now is heaven, and I treat myself and really savor it...but it took almost 5 months to be able to do that, and I had some of those same feelings. Each day I feel like more and more foods sit better ( I had the WORST time with fruit). it will end up feeling like a blessing eventually...I can only have 1 pice of pizza, savor it, and still get to buy smaller clothes :)

Hi,

I have been there. The thing is that you will slowly realize that the decision you made was for the best. As you continue to loose the weight and feel better things will slowly make sense.

Having surgery has defintily been like a rollercoaster ride for me. I have had my ups and downs. I used to at the beggining miss all the food I used to eat, now I realize that I am greatly blessed by the opportunity of having this surgery. It has made me realize all of the wrong choices I made in the past. I have since been able to eat things I thought I couldnt. Of course the quantity will never be the same but at least you have the chance to try them even if it is for just a bit. I have been overweight my entire life and now for the first time in years I am getting to where I have always wanted to be. I have learned to replace food with other activities like shoping. Hahaha!! :D

Go to support groups they help, trust me. Talking to people here has helped me. I also go to weekly counseling, which also helps me. I am still learning I am 4 months post op so I still have a long way to go, but I am greatful for the things I learn daily. It will get better I promise! Hang in there... :)

Ok jeffy now that the ladies have done their nicely nice thing let me say; HELLO , ya got surgery to lose weight and it's working. almost 30 pounds in less than two weeks give that a min to soak in , ok now look around these boards and see that some people can't lose that in months. Depression is a luxury i cant afford it just seems a lazy way of dealing or should i say not dealing with thoughts and feelings i dont like,For me having struggled with my weight my whole life (and depression) that little bit of buyers remorse can't be given headspace. We say in AA that an attitude of gratitude keeps us sober, it has !! Talk. Prey, meditate , do what you have to to keep from feeding that negative thinking. The reality is we are never gonna get together and split a whole extra cheese erything pizza but we have this place to come lean on each other for support. Best advice I was given pre op was"learn to embrace change"

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
