welcome indianveg

congratulations on being sleeved. :)

i hope you are recovering nicely

there are so many things for you to learn - i'll try and help you with a few basics.

after weight loss surgery (also called WLS) rest alot from this board

you have been through major surgery - and you might be very tired for a period of time. You must rest and take of yourself.

No heavy lifting

You must drink as much as you can, this is very important. You also should be drinking Protein Shakes if you can, but if you can't at first thats ok. Later though Protein is very very important

most important is to DRINK as much as you can. people usually drink Water - plenty of water. eventually after you heal you should be drinking 64 oz. thats alot - do the best you can after surgery and a period of time

then you should be drinking 64 oz a day

protein is very very important - the main thing you should eat as a meal for example eggs, chicken, fish, meats - anything that is full of protein - to name a few - have a lot of lot of protein. very important - as important as water.

You should walk alot too - you might have gas after surgery (which can last awhile) and walking is the best thing for to help get rid of gas.

take some sort of gas pill to help get rid of the gas.

You will go through different stages

in the following order

clear liquids

other liquids

mushy foods

soft foods

solids

each stage will last a few days

the above are just the very basics

this is just the beginning

many more things to learn that other people on this board can help with

do you possibly have anyone to talk to about the surgery. any dr.?

please read this board and you will get alot of information.

ask specific questions and we will do our best to help.

the board is very helpful

good luck

come again

kathy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
