My Thought Proccess

Recommended Posts

Today I finished my 3rd half marathon..... With an injury!!!

During my 2nd, I injured my IT band (fancy name for runners knee). I've been with a physio to help resolve it and together ( with my pushing), we agreed that I could try today's half marathon if I was careful.

The old me would have given up. The old me would have said if I couldn't do the whole thing, it wasn't worth trying.

My thought process now is sooo positive! Yes, I'm going to try. Yes, I may get taken off the course. But I at least was going to TRY!!!!

And try I did!!!!! The first 5km (3.1miles) was amazing!!! I came in under 30 min for the first time ever!!!! Then my left knee blew out again

: (

So I walked the next about 13-14km (about 9 miles) and ran the last mile to cross the finish line at 3:05:18. Not the best time but who cares!!! I FINISHED!!!!! And I'm so proud to have finished and not just given up.

This surgery has given me the power to shed so much more than extra weight!!

Congrats!! I'm so happy for you! Well, for the positive spirit, NOT the injured knee of course! I can't even imagine running a marathon. I'm just working through the C25K now.

Keep running!

Thanks Emily! You can do it too!! I was NOT a runner by any means when I started. I couldn't even run/jog a full minute when I first started. C25k is great! I didn't use it so much- I actually found it too hard!!! Lol

I've run 3 half marathons (13.1 miles) I have another half in august, a FULL (26.2 mils) in October (eek!!!) and in January I'm going to Disneyworld to do Goofy's race and a half challenge. Saturday will be a half, then Sunday a full ( double eek!!!!)

Believe in yourself and set yourself a goal. Find a race and register!!! (my first registered race I came in 7th from last- but I still beat all those people on the couch!!!!)

If I could bring myself to enjoy it... maybe lol! Have fun with the Goofy's race :) I'm a couple hours north in Jacksonville. I've heard of some of the Disney race's before. The other issue I have is with footwear, and the heat. I have okay sneakers, but I can't afford to buy the all out runner shoes.

How do you deal with the heat when you run?

I'm a wimp in the heat!! Lol I'll hit the treadmill or run earlier morning or later evening. I'm in Vancouver, Canada. This year has been a very cool, wet June!!! So today's race was ( if I'm doing the calculations right) in the low 60s but sunny!!! Perfect running weather!!

I hated running too at first. I begrudgingly did it to up my weight loss. Then something happened and I started to enjoy it!!! When I first injured my knee I was 3 weeks without running!!! I was such a b***h!!! Turns out running is my stress reliever. My clear out the cobwebs time. Hopefully my knee allows me to run again soon. I know WHY it happened so I at least can try to fix it now

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
