Lasik For Hubby While Im In Mexico For Sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I'm having surgery on july ninth with doctor Ponce. I'm trying to find a lasik doctor for my husband so he can get his eyes fixed while I'm down there. Has anybody had this done in Tijuana? Can anybody recommend a doctor? Thanks

I don't know any doctors but I did have Lasix done about 5 years ago...best decision ever. But...if you are being sleeved and need help afterwards, from my experience I was pretty much in bed for two days because even tv light was like looking into the sun. You both may need the same amount of help for a couple days. Might ask a friend or family member to help out. B)

Oh yeah, I couldn't drive for about a week due to the sun so birght I couldn't open my eyes outside for about 5 days. Every person is different but just so you are prepared. Good Luck.

Hey April, thanks alot! i emailed him and mentioned you. Yes, would you mind telling me how much you have to pay lol. Shane (dh) has astigmatism im sure that matters. He did have a consult and was a candidate for the surgery up here but they wanted 3200$. That did include a retreatment if it was needed so I would hope they offer the same.

I only have the test set up so far. I, too, have astigmatism, and those toric contacts are horrible. They have every type of procedure u can imagine so it will depend on what type of lasik. When my brother had his lasik here in the USA he literally walked out and wore dark shades and was fine that very day. He put some drops in his eyes that night n the next day his eyes were fine. I guess the healing is different from one person to the next. For me, here it's 3800 and I consider any decrease in price a bonus so I'm having the testing etc done and may get the surgery the day before I leave or even stay an extra day if I need to. The surgery for my vsg is top priority, but the exam is less than 100 I think and Ur dh can get that the day of Ur surgery and while Ur recuperating can get the lasik so u both benefit from the trip.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
