I would advise against as they are VERY high in sodium, at least the ones in cans. Too much sodium is not good for the heart and won't help with hydration. Do you have a nutritionist who can advise you?

Plus, nuts were off my plan until two months. Not sure where you are post op?

I was concerned about the fat. And in the past I have had gas troubles when I ate peanuts. So I kinda stay away from those. I just use reduced fat PB with my Protein Shake.< /p>

PB2 powder is also great to get that Peanut Butter taste without all the fat. The chocolate flavored one is amazing!

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't you only 6 days out from your sleeve. I do believe 6 days out I will still be eating only exactly what is on the list of allowed foods from my surgeon.

missmachine - I know you didnt mention your surgery date - but your profile mentioned Jun 11, 2012 as the surgery date - so I assume you are atleast 2 weeks out and would probably be on the pureed and mushed phase. And when we grind the nuts a bit it is perfectly mushy.

You could check with the nutritionist and see if you can include this into your diet or not. They would probably recommend that you dont eat this too often coz of the fat count. Anyway, good luck! :)

I am two weeks out and in the puréed mushy stage. I am allowed eggs, soft cheeses and soft meats. BP's are mushy, that's why I was asking. :) Will mention to surgeon staff and see what they say.

I LOVE them tooooo. And I am delighted meet someone else who loves Boiled Peanuts too. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago and btw stages 2 & 3 with food. In my opinion, they are the perfect food...for all the reasons you listed. As for the sodium issue, I fixed that by cooking them myself. I buy raw peanuts w/the shell on and boil them w/ a very small amount of Kosher salt and lemon wedges. Some people crave sweets, I crave Protein and nuts fulfill that urge for me. And Only being able to eat mushy foods, boiled peanuts have become the perfect snack and protein booster for me.

mmmmmmmmmm Love boiled peanuts. Would love your salt/lemon recipe. I tend to over salt them when I make them. :)

I love boiled peanuts, too! High Protein and soft and yummy! I like them best when I find a roadside vendor selling them. That's somewhat common in Florida. I also keep a bag of peanuts in the freezer and throw a few into the crockpot sometimes for a snack. I need to do that tomorrow! :)

Did finish the post...as I mentioned I am southern African American and so eating & making BP's is more ritual then recipe. In my head i just know how to make them but I searched the Internet and find a recipt that's very similar to what I do...except

1.) I Cut the salt by half and replaced it with concentrated lemon juice and/or lemon wedges. Every 1TSP salt = 3 TSP's of lemon juice or 1 lemon( cut into wedges). Once I add the salt I add the lemon freely to taste. (NOTE: taste the Water because what your Water taste like Is what your BP's will taste like). I use both lemon juice and lemons.

2.) I Boil them for at least three hours.

3.) I let them sit in the water for at least 1 hour.

I hope you enjoy.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
