I had surgery on June 19. All went well and I feel great! My problem is that I am not hungry at all. What a problem to have huh? I am having a hard time getting all of my Protein and Water. By the end of the day I am close but I feel like all I do is drink shakes, water broth with protein etc. all day long. The water is actually harder than the protein.

I wish I didn't get hungry...for me that was one of the perks of having the surgery. Unfortunately, I am in the 10% who DO get hungry and that happens every 2-3 hours. :( The Water and Protein seem to be hard for me to, regardless. Hang in there..I tried to do shakes in am and before bed and sip water all day. I'm currently being terrible at getting both in...prob because I haven't lost n almost two weeks and to only be 5 weeks out its depressing. However on the flip side I did loose 28# so far...sure good there's more to come!

That's what I was afraid of. I have heard people say that they were still hungry. I just told myself that I was going to remember that if I ate too much I would be sick. I hate getting sick so that would keep me from overeating. Great job on the weight loss! Hang in there it will keep coming off.

Joey, at 3 days post op if you are getting in your Water and Protein ( or most) by the end of the day then IMO I'd say you are right on track! It's ok if you are not terribly hungry right now, it'll come back! ;)

Some days you will be able to get it all in, and some days you wont. All you can do is try. I had my surgery on May 21st, and I still have days where it is tough to get it all in. I have learned not to freak out about it. I have to tell you that Vitamin Water Zero is my new "water." No sodium. No sugar. No calories. Tastes great, and my doctor said I can count that as Water.< /p>

By the way...I STILL haven't got my appetite back. I'm just never hungry, but I force myself to eat Protein every two hours, even if I can only get an ounce down. You will get really weak if you don't.

It sounds like you are doing perfect :) At 3 days out I couldn't do Protein shakes at all... I was struggling with water! I had more problems with the "not hungry" once I switched to actual food because I didn't have an appetite. The first few weeks transitioning to food I used the alarm on my phone to remind myself to eat every couple hours!

Hang in there, you are doing great!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
