So when everyone talks about the dreaded 3 week stall how are we to look at it? Do you stall around 3 weeks post op? Or do you stall for 3 weeks? I have stalled for around 3 weeks now and am hoping to start losing again, I also started this stall around 2-3 weeks post op.

Take before and after measurements. Many times a stall is really a conversion process wherein your body is losing fat and gaining muscle. I thought I had stalled for a few weeks and learned I had really lost 15 pounds of fat! Make sure you are taking in enough calories and Protein to avoid your body going into starvation mode. Good luck!

As soon as I moved from Clear Liquids to full liquids I stalled. It's been 4 days now with the scale not moving. Not really freaking out as I know this is normal. Oh well :)

I agree with everyone, I stalled at the 2 week post up point and spoke with my Nut and she said it's normal and not to worry. Keep up on your Water and Protein.< /p>

I'm 3 weeks post op and in a stall. Lost 20 lbs the first 2 weeks going from 2 lbs/day to 1 lb/day to 1/2 lb to nothing. I'm taking in all the Protein and fluids. I know it's an adjustment period. This ocurred in every diet I was ever on but it is disappointing and discouraging to be in the middle of one. It will change...but I hope it is soon.

I stalled at about two and a half weeks and it lasted about two weeks. However, my measurements were still decreasing, about 5 inches fell off in that period. So keep recording inches to help stay motivated. After the two weeks, all of a sudden in a matter of only 10 days I lost 9 pounds. Now it's just coming off right now at a rate of one or two pounds a week. If I stall again, I'm not going to sweat it and continue to measure. Also make sure you record everything you are eating and drinking. If you still can't seem to get things moving you can bring it to your nut and see if there is any adjustments to diet that may help.

I am one and a half week post-op, but completed two weeks of a two week pre-op clear liquid diet. During the pre-op diet and a week after surgery I lost 23 lbs!!! BUT...since last Thursday I have only lost 2 lbs. I was getting depressed thinking I am "eating" too much. But when I plugged in my food diary into My Fitness Pal, I was pretty much on target.

After reading this post and the comments, I feel SO much better. Knowing there is a "three-week" stall for many makes me know I am not alone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
