I was sleeved on Tuesday (6/19) and have been home since Thursday and was wondering how long it generally took for everyone's incision pain to decrease? I have four incision's plus the one where the drain was and most seem to feel okay except for the one on my most right. I'm trying to walk as much as possible around the house and I'm using a firm pillow against my stomach when I need to but even the slightest movement causes it hurt like hell! I've already gone through my pain medicine I was sent home with and had to get my doctor to call me in something stronger but I can't get it until tomorrow. If it wasn't for this one awful feeling, I think I'd be doing a heck of a lot better at my recovery!

I was sleeved on the same day as you. the first few days were rough for sure but the pain and discomfort decreased every day. I'm sure your doctor has asked the normal questions such as is it red, inflamed, *****? any signs of infection? other than that maybe you slept on it? I sleep on my tummy and was told I couldn't. so i haven't. can't wait to do so. Lol. I can tell you it gets better every day and closer to normal - whatever norm is?

It took me about a week, too, for me to feel better. I still took pain meds at night into the second week, as well, but after a week and the half I didn't have anything but the occasional children's tylenol chewables.< /p>

I am just about 2 months post and I remember the pain I was in with my incisions! I had one in particular that was painful and that was the one that they used to "pull out my stomach" from.

It should get better little by little as long as there is no inflamation, redness, discharge from the site.

Hang in there, some of us just take a little longer to heal!

The incision furthest right for me was where they removed my stomach, and it is a bit bigger due to the size cannula they have to use. They could have also put a stitch down that is tugging. It is fairly typical since you are on your back. I had one and it gave me issues for at least 2 weeks and off again and on again for a couple of months.

Do not underestimate the value of a lesser pain medication - what are they giving you? Don't laugh but if your doc is OK with it try liquid ibuprophin. Also, I found I hurt less once I became aware that I was "guarding" the pain, that is, slouching over while I walked. Once I stood up and stretched out the length of my torso and put on a tight 8" ace bandage (alright 3 of them but ah was a biiig girl! lol) i felt much better. Heat helps too.

Good luck and yayyy! You are sleeved!

I had a incision on my left side that gave me a lot of grief painwise. It hurt to walk, get up, stand, bend down, etc. Well at the end of my second week it just disappeared one afternoon. It was weird cause it was there in the morning and then bam.. gone in the afternoon. It will get better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
