Hello, all! I was sleeved on June 6, and so far I have lost 15 lbs. Thats about a pound a day. I know thats much better than what I could do before surgery, but im anxious to get more weight off quickly since I have so long until I get to that goal! My doctor said that I can start walking more in a few days, and I can go back to the gym in about 3 more weeks, and I was wondering if any of you noticed the weight coming off faster once in incorporated intense workouts. I have lost about 30 lbs including my pre-op diet, but I havent noticed a difference in my face, body, or clothes. Thirty sounds like so much, so I thought I would see some changes by now, but Im guessing that maybe because I am so big (starting weight of 383), Im going to need to lose more than most to see similar changes. Thanks for listening!

Elle, First, welcome to VST! You've come to the right place for support! :)

Second, slow your jets on exercise. :) You'll soon be able to exercise safely, but you don't want to hurt yourself and set yourself back this early in the process. Be prepared for your weight loss to slow or even stop for a little bit when you first start exercising; it stopped for me for a bit.

Third, Take a picture of your face and compare it to a pre-op picture. I'm betting you'll see a difference in both your face and neck, from "just" 30 pounds. That's where I noticed my changes first. If you're interested in seeing what your progress might look like, check out my gallery of pics here. I started at 352 and I'm now under 250. I have several face pics in there, plus pictures from at least monthly to show my progress.

Congrats on being sleeved! :) Welcome to the loser's bench.

Welcome! It's great that you are anxious to start exercising. start off slow and don't be too intense just yet. I started off by just walking and slowly worked that up to core strengthening with weights. Yes exercise does increase my weight loss. But that's me.

I would concentrate on learning how to get all your fluids in and Protein in first and then go from there.

Best of luck to you and congratulations on your weight loss!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
