I'm 5 days out, on a clear liquid diet. And starting this morning, any time I drink something that isn't plain Water, I end up running to the bathroom and being in there for awhile emptying out. Sorry if TMI. I just hurt so bad. I had some broth at lunch, almost instantaneously it seemed to go through me. Whats the deal?

What goes in comes out, unfortunately, and you're on all liquids. The high Protein stuff affects some people that way as well.

I had the same issue for several weeks. Well, I had the problem until I got on soft food really. Now I have the opposite problem sometimes.

This too shall pass.

Yep, I'm 18 days out, when I have my first shake in the morning, I get about an ounce gagged down and I am in the bathroom. I hold the wall and the sink because gosh only knows the sounds and force and just a little Water comes out sometimes and the gas and whatever comes out makes me groan sometimes and grunt and it sounds like I'm fighting something in the bathroom. I have a husband and son and they have never had to deal with me running to the bathroom before like this and sometimes they snicker at the voluntary and involuntary noises coming out of the bathroom.

As you start getting thicker and heavier food, it will stop being so liquidy. One thing I would like you to know, what you are dealing with is actually a whole lot better than Constipation. That is even more painful.

Are you drinking dairy-based Proteins? I became lactose intolerant after the surgery as a lot is sleevers. Consider that too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
