allnewme 262 Posted July 6, 2012 I have not been sleeved yet (8/02 is my date). I am self pay and chose Dr. Alvarez. He is not the least expensive but he is a very skilled surgeon. I did my research and only found one negative comment on him, and that I took with a grain of salt. I have spoken/emailed with lots of people that have been sleeved by him and they are all doing great. I wanted to stay in a hospital after surgery, not be taken to a recovery house. I also wanted to know my husband would be safe to go out in the town alone while I am in the hospital. I think complications can happen from any surgery, no matter where you have it. There is a board on here with people that have had complications, there are not that many complaints about surgery in Mx but there are some. My future SIL is from MX and he tells me that people cross the border by the hundreds every day to have medical procedures done. If you have to pay out of pocket the rates are much cheaper there. StrangelyNormal 182 Posted July 7, 2012 I dug around and decided to go with Dr Gonzalez a member of the Baja med group. Zero death rate. 2000+ sleeves under his belt. No infections or leaks. He uses the covidien tri-staple I wanted and I'm having my surgery at the MAR Surgery Center. to notch all the way.
