Drinking with meals can cause food to slide through faster and thus causing a person to be hungry more frequently. The diet soda is carbonated and caffeinated. The carbonation is bad for a sleeve and can cause expansion, possibly(nothing proven). Caffeine can result in a person feeling hungry more often, too.

Sure, but it was ultimately his poor diet that caused the weight gain, not being hungry. He admitted to a poor diet. I don't often drink with meals because there just isn't room, but if I'm extremely thirsty, I will. I also have fountain diet coke sometimes now. It doesn't cause me to be hungry. IT just satisfies my desire.
