We have a heat wave going on over here in Boston and I think I got a pretty bad case of heat exhaustion yesterday. I'm just over 3 weeks out and it was a really sick feeling I had. I was SUPER tired. More tired than I had ever felt. (besides waking up post op lol). And I felt like

I had no strength. I was walking back to my house with my iPad and a drink and nearly dropped them both because they were to heavy. I slept last night from about 7:00 pm to about 10:00 this morning... CRAZY!! Lol. Has this

Happened to anyone?

I was sleeping a lot for the first month. Which made it really hard to get in my fluids and Protein. Once I came back to work things got better, but I think it was because I got myself on a food/fluid regimen that allowed me to meet my nutritional requirements.

The one time I had heat exhaustion, I felt as though I was freezing to death from the inside out; I remember wearing my winter coat. My roommate (RN) kept giving me fluids and salty Snacks. I wanted to just sit and do nothing, but I didn't fall asleep. Have your symptoms subsided after your really good night's sleep?

I'm still tired but I haven't been outside yet! Lol. It's going to be another toasty 90+ day so I plan on staying inside as much as I can

WOW - if you think you had a real episode - especially post-sleeve or on the pre-op diet - you should go to the doctor. Truly serious on this - it is a more traumatic event that you realize. You stressed your heart, your kidneys, your skin, your limp system, your BRAIN...you depleted amino acids and minerals you may not have had enough of anyway.

If you can, go get checked out.

go to the doctor, you might be dehydrated . I spent 2 days out in the sun and had to go to the ER to get fluids for being severly dehydrated.

I agree... go to the doc and get checked out. Heat exhaustion is nothing to mess with. Better to be safe than sorry.

Sorry ... I'm sooo jealous ... heat ... don't know what this is here in the NW. It is 59 and raining. Supposed to be all weekend. Oye. The Pacific Northwest can be difficult sometimes.

I'll take that over 110 degrees in Phoenix!

I was really tired from about three to six weeks out from surgery. I was going to bed at 8 p.m., which is unheard of for me, and I was usually falling asleep before that. I think it was just part of my recovery.

I'm very glad to hear that because I have been exhausted since my surgery 9 days ago. It's hard to start exercising.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
