Since my weight loss my knees have stopped hurting but the pain in my heel has started again, it is unbearable to exercise. Any recommendations that can help this pain without seeing a doctor or an exercise that I can tolerate?

NO - do not mean to yell, but you really should see the correc type of doc once pain due to working out becomes bad enough to prevent exercize.

It may not be a pediatrist, it might be a sports med doc - then you could also get in a fit test and such.

It sounds like plantar fasciitis, which I have. If you recently started a walking or exercise regimen that would explain it. Anyhow my doctor suggested I freeze a bottled Water and once it is all frozen rotate it under my foot back and forth in a rolling motion. This really did help, and I was able to keep my sock on.

Could also be bone spurs. I would see a Dr. right away.

Yeah, go to doc. You don't want to mess up your foot and not be able to work out.

Tight calves and plantar faciitis are the reasons for my heel pain. See a podiatrist to be sure. But what helped me were the Rubz massage ball for the foot, better shoes with Superfeet orthotics, and rolling/stretching the calves.

Google foam rolling and ball rolling for those muscles, there are videos to show you how. These plus basic stretches could help.

I'm not sure if you've been to a doc yet, but if not you should. I too had the problems. Having no insurance I waited. I could have had the right exercises and avoided the future surgury I paid for (out of pocket) had I known. Now that I'm heavier I'm starting to have the problems again. I was told weight loss along wit proper stretches, cold rolling bottle on feet, etc. can avoid alot of problems. So now, instead of paying for yet more foot surgery I'm spending on the money on the real problem, my weight, along with the exercises.

Good luck and get it looked at before you have bigger problems.

Yeah, it sounds like plantar fasciitis to me but only a doctor can tell you for sure. I have it in both feet but successfully have it under control. I stretch my feet a lot. I put the ball of my foot on the edge of my bathtub and push down as hard as I can on tje top pf my knee. It stretches that muscle that runs from your heel to the ball of your foot. Also, you can use ice on it. Oh, and shoes without good support like sandals will aggravate it. Running and walking can too. It is a pain to get under control but with diligence you can. I'm even to the point of being able to wear sandals again.

40 lbs ago (before officially obese) I tried a personal trainer. kept telling him my feet were hurting and he glossed over it. got to the point i couldn't walk. tried the shots. tried the stretches. tried sleeping with the foot stretcher thingy. doctor said i was too far gone. I ended up having a laser surgery on both feet. some people reported they felt better the next day. took about 30 days before I noticed one moring that i didn't drop to my knees when jumping out of bed in the morning (always gotta go right now! lol).

Now I wear the best sneakers, replaced often, with orthodics. if its bad and the typical things are not helping look into the laser surgery. surgery itself is done in an office. worse part about it is the damn shot they give you--you know its in the right place when they literally hit the nerve. **ouch**.

Mine has gotten bad because I've put on 40 lbs and recently started a job where i cant wear my beloved sneakers and I'm too vane to wear the beautiful orthotic shoes. I'm going back to wearing sneakers except when I'm at work. Also, invest in good flip flops if you have to wear sandals. nope, not as pretty but they do make some basic looking ones that don't look like they belong on a tourist with black socks. lol \

I'm also hoping that after being sleeved the weight loss will help take the strain off my feet.

Good luck.

I had plantar facitis and went the normal medical route for 9 months. In the end it was daily stretching and 6 acupuncture treatments that healed mine (no pun intended) seriously there is still considerable debate in the world of podiatry about what PF is (Is it inflammation? Recent research says no.)

Maybe I should also say I dance Nia (nianow.com) barefoot three times a week and other group classes as I please :) the treadmill gives me the most grief. I too wear very good athletic shoes that fit well with a lot if structure. (lucky me I have a bunion on my other foot.)

Hope you are better soon ;)

If it is plantar fasciitis, first of all OUCH. Had it--hurts bad. Look up the stretching exercises that you do before you get out of bed and that will help. For exercise, you may want to try the elliptical. It was the only exercise I could tolerate when I was dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
