Perfect Idea For Everyone!

Recommended Posts

So ladies and gentlemen, I have thought of a pretty good idea. I went to the store (Target) but also you can go to the grocery store or Walmart. I bought:

a binder

page protectors

dividers

highlighters

colored pens

one folder

I sat for two hours on my computer and looked up recipes for all different stages of our post-op diet. I separated all the different diet recipes that I liked. And also separated them into Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Desserts, and drinks. This makes it easier for quick reference to make meals. Also it is easier to plan a week's worth of meals. And also for food shopping!

I put all my important paperwork gathered so far from all my doctors and specialists regarding the surgery into a folder. Lists of food groups and nutritional information from my nutritionists, I put in page protecters and put them in the front of the binder for easy reference. I also put loose leaf paper in the back to write things down if necessary. I plan to make a to-do list before and after surgery and a to-read list as well for good books to read regarding our surgery.

Everything is in one place, clean, and organized just the way I like it. Hope this helps all of you busy bees!

I love your enthusiasm. I was super organized pre-op too. I had a little brown book I wrote questions in and a folder that I kept everything in. I had lists of food etc;

I'm 6 weeks post-op and life has settled in and unfortunately my organization has fallen off. I think life takes over. Post-op it's an emotional, mental and physical recovery. I think my frustration with the stages threw me off track. LOL

However, keep it up I applaud your efforts!!

girlfriend

You are doing such a great job keeping stuff organized/ and keeping track of everything.

Paperwork from dr., notes, just all that good stuff . green with envy

You probably have a blog too, right?

When i started 6 months ago i was definitely going to do a blog. Well one day went into another...never got it started. Wish i had stuff written down like all you bloggers, oh well.

you are doing great. i can do the recipes at least.

good work with your continued organization :)

sure you are doing well with your weight loss too

kathy

ps - to all you other bloggers (didn't forget you ^_^ ) congrats to you too :)

I even have an Excel spreadsheet I set up for calculating nutrition per serving for recipes. It takes a few minutes to enter all the ingredients, but after a bit of use, your most-used ingredients are already in there with nutritional values. It's been a real help.

Anything that gets and keeps us on track is good!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
