R there foods that you eat & the next day you gained

Recommended Posts

I definitely raise the scale if I eat things that are high carb or drink alcohol etc. The only way I lose is to strictly adhere to the Protein, protein, protein rule..

Ditto...I can eat as much fat as I want and as long as there is no carbs I don't gain....Kind of an Atkins diet I suppose. If I do want to drink I MUST exercise or I will plateau or probably gain. So if I want some wine I make sure I hit the gym so I don't feel guilty drinking it..Now I know why I got so darn fat--my FAVE foods are bread, rice and Pasta. Thank goodness for the band!

I have to agree with the rest of you, also caloric intake is also important, it may be a small amount of something but if it is loaded with calories like chips could be another reason for the weight gain.

I've sure found them this week. Gained two lbs. Let's see BBQ beef or pork every night. Baked potato with goodies. (What do you mean, potato is not a vegetable?????)

Multiple alcoholic drinks during the cooking part. Takes so long to cook, potato chips and dip are in order. And ice cream. Don't forget the ice cream.

I have good restriction. I have bad habits! :hungry:

Oh, well, summer is nearly over and indoor cooking will happen again. Sigh!

If you gain overnight, its water/bloating, you physically cant gain 1.5lb of fat overnight, unless you binge out by 5000 calories or so, not very easy with a band. So its nothing to worry about.

Alcohol always does it to me, but it disappears again.

I agree with jacqui completely, if I eat anything that is high in salt, or if I add extra, I retain Fluid, and up it goes a pound or so. But it goes away just as quickly. When the scale jumps up more than a pound, I know it is simple fluctuation of fluid levels etc. I worry about the half pounds, they can be real, if I am not watching!!! Sounds so silly voicing that!!!

I gained the most weight (75 lbs in a year) due to eating a HUGE refried bean and rice burrito every night - i had the highest stress job -was working around the clock but made sure to get by burrito brothers every night before closing. the thing weighed 5lbs i'm sure and i know it was the concentrated carbs plus stress that packed the lbs on. I would actually rotate restaurants so they wouldn't see me every night - carbs have always packed it on me but i love em - was a vegetarian and could be easily one again - never liked meat much.

Here here on the cheetos, them and doritos will get me every time. Much of the gain is the sodium but they go down so easy and are super high in calories.

Most bandsters are in an ongoing state of ketosis, brought about (long story short) by lack of carbohydrates in the diet. The onset of ketosis is accompanied with a significant, often overnight drop in weight -- not fat, but Fluid -- anywhere from a pound to 8 or 9 lbs.

The retention of Fluid when the state of ketosis is broken is just as quick. Had I just read the title of your post, and not your actual message, I would have replied, "I'm guessing what you ate was a high carbohydrate food." The same amount that is initially lost can be gained, once again overnight, by introducing enough carbohydrates.

Once ketosis is resumed, the Water weight should once again drop quickly.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
