Hi all, I was revised band-to-sleeve on June 15. On this passed Tuesday, a couple of my incisions began to get infected from the inside, so now I'm on a heavy load of antibiotics. Anyhow, I have this one incision (not one of the infected ones) that just keeps oozing, oozing, and oozing! I'm so sorry to be gross! I have to clean it, put fresh gauze, and a huge bandage every few hours or it leaks through. The oozing is a kinda pinky-brown color, there doesn't seem to be any odor. Anyone else have this issue?? It's so gross!

Yup. I called my surgeon about mine and he said put some neosporin on it during the night and use hydrogen peroxide a few times during the day and keep it covered. I was kinda freaking out and he acted like he was talking to a crazy person, but his advice worked pretty quickly and I'm all good now!

I had the exact same thing happen to me! I was sleeved May 15th.

I went to my PCP she was not concerned... she said it is not uncommon to develop Fluid pockets in abdominal area after surgery. She put me on Bactrim DS for 10 days ( i think to just to pacify me).

The drainage from my incision never had an odor, I never ran a fever. My incision drained for about two weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
