What stage are you in now? My surgeon says we should be between 800-1000 calories a day during our "losing phase" & then 1200-1500 in maintenance depending on our activity level. I'm 5-1/2 weeks out now & I set my goal for 850 on MFP. I normally get between 650-950 depending on the day and my exercise (usually have a little more if I exercise more). I know every doctor is different though. I've seen some who say it shouldn't be more than 800 & others that say it should be 1200. The more important thing is getting in all your Protein & fluids and not stressing too much over the actual calories as long as you feel okay.

My pre-op calories for 6 months before surgery I stayed at 800-900 calories a day. If you have a nutritionist at your doctor's office I would ask them, but 1000 at 2 months seems high, but if you are steadily losing and not in any pain when you eat, I don't know.

I'm still on liquids and I'm almost 3 weeks out.

I am almost 6 weeks out and easily eating 1000 calories. Somedays I eat less (around 800-900) and other days more (1000-1200), but I feel fine and am just trying to listen to my body.

1000 calories over 2 days right? So 500 a day? To me that seems right on, maybe a little low even. Are you getting in enough Protein? As long as you getting in your liquids and Protein than I wouldn't worry about your calories.

I am 9 months out and I average 600-800 a day. Do you use MFP? It is a great way to track what you are eating (easy as well) and to compare your food with others. If you do use it, feel free to add me (emmeylou). There are a bunch of us sleevers on there as well.

Anewlifeforme23 - good for you for getting some check and balances. You are trying to find ways to work the sleeve and you should be proud that you reached out. Good luck to you and congrats on your loss so far.

I think the bigger question here is if 1000 calories is stilling letting you lose weight. Is that 1000 calories filled with good Protein or bad carbs? Each body is different and we have to learn to listen to it. So if 1000 calories still has you losing weight them stay with it.

I'm 3 mos out and I struggle to hit around 700 calories, and can only do it really if I eat a higher calorie Protein Bar or something. If just left to foods I'll range from 450 - 650. I have a _lot_ of restriction. That being said, it's too few calories. My NUT wants me at 800 - 1000.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
