I think 17lbs in roughly 6 weeks is great!

Karen is right.. that's almost 3lbs a week which any Dr would say is Fabulous. It didn't all go on overnight and it won't all come off overnight. If you think you should be losing more then I would look at how much protien you are getting in compared to carbs and make sure you are getting all of your Water in daily. The slower you lose the lower chance you will have of having saggy skin and I bet you won't be disappointed with that.

17 pounds is great! If you started at a lower BMI, you'll lose slower initially. The great news is that you'll get to goal faster and you will be neck and neck with the higher BMI folks by 9 months out because you'll lose more steadily.

If you're higher BMI, then you need to up your Water intake to at least 64 oz a day. Water is truly the key to losing here because it flushes the junk out of our systems. Make sure you are eating enough, get in that 70 grams of Protein per day and try to stay on the lower end of carbs UNLESS you're working out a lot.

Working out, in and of itself, can slow down our weight loss as well because it converts fat to muscle. Just keep doing it... oh, and lose the words "only" and "slow" about your weight loss! They're depressing words. When have you ever been able to lose 17 pounds in six weeks before??? :)

I agree with everyone else! 17 lbs since the beginning of may is awesome!!! That is nothing to be unhappy about, not at all! I know losing little by little is frustrating, but I promise when those numbers creep up steadily higher and higher it will be even more rewarding. I have never had a large number loss. It was always 2, 3 at the beginning and now its closer to 1. But each pound is sooo worth it!

Make sure you are getting in your Water and Protein. As long as you are doing that the numbers will move. They may move slowly, they mall stall, they may go up a bit (water weight, TOM, bloating, etc..) but in the end, they will go down! Your sleeve won't fail you as long as you keep up your end of the bargain.

17 pounds in a month & a half is fantastic especially when you consider that you only weighed 219 to begin with. You have to keep in mind that its a lot easier to drop a ton of weight at the beginning when you weigh 350, 400 .or more..... not so much when your starting weight is low 200's (or below). Just stick with the plan & you will be happy with the end result.

I feel silly asking but what is "onederland"?

If you started at 219, you aren't going to lose as fast as someone who started out at a higher weight. Plus you didn't say if you lost anything on a preop diet.

Your body likes to get used to it's new weight before it decides to give up any more. Stalls are something we all go through.

Onederland is when you weigh one hundred and something instead of two hundred and something.

I agree with everyone and you should be thankful it's 17lbs you lost instead of gained!! Congrats!

"onederland" is when your weight is below the 200's! It is generally a huge milestone for everyone here. Many people post when they hit this :)

I am FAR from "onederland"....I only just got to "tooterville" (in the 200's rather than 300's)! But you better believe I'll be posting a HUGE post when I hit that. I haven't been in "onederland" since I was 18 years old (I'm 42 now!).

I'm on a 1 week stall right now and it's hard to keep motivated. My husband and I agreed that it's time to forget the scale (we actually use the WiiFit every morning when we get up). I'll revisit the scale/Wii in a week and hopefully thing will be moving by then!

Sigh.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
