Alot Of People Pushing Product For Their Own Gain...

Recommended Posts

I have noticed alot of people who have lost some weight begin to use this forum like thier own personal ads...

It may seem harmless to the person doing it but you are making financial gain of of pushing a product, and using your own success as proof. Your sleeve was the success.

I wish the owners and moderators AND members were mroediligent in making this a taboo thing to to...

I saw the "ads" too. I agree with pookeyism. I think if you suggest something because you use it as a total consumer ( no way attached to the company or making money off it), I think it's great to hear a tip. If you ARE attached to a company or making money from it, then I question why they are posting about it. Just saying....

There have been at least three this morning - from two people.

One of the most important things we need to do is get away from bad habits - and the triggers and cues surrounding them - these types of "it helped me" ads were the tug in a thousand ads that pulled in millions of people. It is just too close for comfort, in aiding pre-sleeve habits. It is also unethical to treat this board as an opportunity for financial gain.

I say that, and yes, I bought a exercize DVD from a young lady on here recently - but it was being offered as she cleaned up her closet - and she stressed she never used it.

I have recommended products, too - but I do not profit from them. We have all probably recomended something, which is different.

When I see something trying to sell on this site, I hate it. I get a really bad view of that person and then I start questioning if they actually had the wls or is trying to expand their business. Those people need to get off of hear and post it where it belongs! Not here, not now. Sorry, I just had to vent. This is a great topic! Thanks for posting it! :)

I don't know what is supposed to happen, but I clicked on the "report" icon and wrote that this was going on.

Report it using the "report" link in the bottom of every post. That is spam and hopefully the mods will delete it and warn the poster.

Who even knows if these people lost weight or are even interested in the sleeve. It's just a way to get a free ad. They could be anyone. Nothing stopping someone from making a profile and history look any way they want it to.

Promoting products for their own benefit/sales is a direct violation of our terms of service. We try our best to catch it when this happens, but we also rely on you, our members to report the posts when you see them as well. It is difficult for us to monitor every post on every thread, so when you help us, it is definitely much appreciated.

Thank you to all of you for your support and help!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
