Christle29 4 Posted June 21, 2012 Is there anyone that can still eat spicy food after their sleeve? I'm Puerto Rican and I love love love spicy food! Can I still have that after???
MrBig 17 Posted June 21, 2012 Yes, but in small portions. Another thing to note is that people who love to eat spicy food (including myself) tend to have a habit of drinking Water while eating. After my sleeve I've found that I feel very bloated if I drink and eat at the same time. Hence I tend to eat food that is less spicy. Also.... after my sleeve I've suddenly occasion gastric reflux... which doesnt really go well when I've had spicy food.
Lissa 2,631 Posted June 21, 2012 I still love the taste of spicy food, but Rex (my sleeve) is just now allowing me to eat anything remotely spicy without complaining about it loudly. 1 BunnyFoodRocks reacted to this
emily_0192010 168 Posted June 21, 2012 Spicy food still makes me very uncomfortable BUT I never really enjoyed it. I do know a few people who LOVE it post-sleeve! I would just be very careful when you re-introduce it and make sure you wait until you are for sure healed 100%!
chitowngirl 886 Posted June 21, 2012 I eat it with no problems.
Amom2twins 58 Posted June 21, 2012 I am only just over 2 weeks post-op & have no problem eating spicy food (even though I am still on liquids). I had spicy Latin black bean Soup & even spruced up some won ton soup broth with the spicy mustard with no issues. I am sure it is different for some people but so far so good here. IrishSoul 18 Posted July 6, 2012 I too can eat spicey foods. I was putting tobasco in my v8 during my liquid stage. So far nothing I have had, has bothered my sleeve........ Just tried steak, tuna, lobster, asparagus, chicken, and scallops......all good! 1 On my Waaaay reacted to this
quietcougar 29 Posted July 6, 2012 I haven't had any issues either, but I'm sure the experience is different for everyone. Things I used to like I don't, and some things I didn't like as well I enjoy more now. Strange, but that's the way the sleeve rolls. 1 Leslie Hudson-Couch reacted to this
MrBig 17 Posted July 6, 2012 I'm from South East Asia... and everything is spicy ... honestly .... I used to love spicy food.... and I can stomach it .... even now ... But for some weird reason, I just dont have the craving or lust for it anymore~ I might take abit coz I remember I used to love it... but ... after a taste... dat's it. Not coz I cant take it .... it's just ... "hmmm nice .. ok ... wat else is there?"
FloraBama Girl 116 Posted July 6, 2012 I love spicy food, the only thing bad right now is just about everything gives me gastric reflux. If I take Zegerid it keeps the acid down. Being without a job makes it hard to try to pay $30 for 22 days worth of treatment of Zegerid. I try what we have on hand but it just doesn't work like the Z stuff. Had an job interview today that went pretty good so maybe I will be employed again soon. Having insurance would be so great again. Sorry for the venting. 1 Leslie Hudson-Couch reacted to this
KristieAtkinson 589 Posted July 6, 2012 My sleeve hates spicy food too. It makes my acid reflux back up into my throat. But you may be totally different. I hope you can eat it!
Lauranbob Mc 94 Posted July 6, 2012 I actually like my food spicier now than before the sleeve. food just does seem to have any flavor anymore. 1 Leslie Hudson-Couch reacted to this

I'm six weeks out and been using plenty of hot sauce, wing sauce, etc. made enchiladas last night with trader joes enchilada sauce (has a nice kick) and no issues. 2 Leslie Hudson-Couch and Sexymary reacted to this
Sexymary 7 Posted August 4, 2012 Gastricsleeve4me, are you eating whatever! I mean are you able to eat something and swallow it without throwing up later. I can't eat anything but an egg.
Aaron in Tulsa 147 Posted August 4, 2012 I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to give up hot & sour Soup. I hope my sleeve will cooperate! 1 CantBelieve_IdidIit! reacted to this
