Does anyone know if your body shape affects weightloss. In other words, do pear shapes lose faster than apple shapes?

I wouldnt think so but it will determine WHERE you lose fat. Im currently an apple shape with most of my weight in my stomach area and i used to have an hour glass lol I cant wait to get that back!

Majority of weight loss patients regardless of shape tend to lose first in the face and shoulders. From there it begins to lose where ever it wants. I lost in the arms and belly next. I was left with huge legs and behind and that was when it began to get really difficult for me. I had to work really hard to get the rest off. Not complaining, just stating facts. I became so lopsided I decided to have liposuction to cure the areas I felt would never go away. I'm glad I did, I feel much more proportionate now.

I was an hourglass when I was young and apple-shaped at surgery. I lost most in my hips, thighs, rear, and belly. I am now a triangle shape--size 10 tops (still a D cup), size 6 pants. I don't think any particular shape loses weight quicker.

The unfortunate reality of weight loss is that you will lose weight in the reverse order you gain it. Most women gain first in their thighs & butt area, so that will be the last place to lose from. Men tend to lose their guts last.

You will lose in you're extremities first then it willwork in toward your problem areas.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
