As I understand it, I have a 10 cm (pressumably 10 centimetres - the length of the band?) band with the capacity for 4 cc (a measure of liquid that is inserted). Of course, I'm just guessing! My card does say 10 cm/4 cc though, for what it's worth. Did you get a card Paula?

Marie

Now, I may seem dumb saying this, but I actually am just guessing at the 10CC band.

MARIE, HELP ME OUT HERE. We were banded one week apart, same surgeon. The man of few words, never actually told me. Could it be that I have a 10cm band???

snort, thanks for that Yoda, yes I did get a card, will go check.

Yes, if it IS a 4cc band, then I guess we will go up slowly...

Thanks Yoda, Marie, it will be interesting to see what kind of fill you get on Thursday. Ask him when is a good time for a second fill, or what are the signs that one needs a second fill.

Thanks

Paulax.....one of the biggest signs that you need a 2nd fill is....

if you are not losing 1-2 lbs (on average!!!!) a week...despite following all the "bandster rules".

Hope that helps!

As Paula noted, fills and all follow-up appointments are covered under our provincial medical coverage (MSP) so there should be absolutely no costs after surgery.

Marie

So..... BC pays for fills, or your fills are included with the cost of your surgery? I'm confused. If the prov. gov't doesn't cover 'banding', why would they cover fills?

First fill done! No problem at all. Tiny pin prick, and then I looked away while he did the Fluid thing. Anxiety required? Zero.

That's a good question and I'm not entirely sure. I think the fills may be covered under MSP (provincial medical) as he can charge them as a patient consult when he does his coding/billing. But that's just a guess.

You need a referral from your family doctor. Although I just went to a drop in clinic as I didn't have a family doctor at that time. I'd also recommend bringing along Dr Leung's address/phone to pass along to your doctor.

Cheers,

Marie

Newbie question, Do we need a referral from our GP to see Dr. Leung?

Hi, everyone. I too was banded by Dr. Leung. I think he's the cat's meow; he doesn't sugar coat anything..tells you "what it is". I like that.

I do to Katgirl!

How are you doing and when was your surgery?

I have to say, I am so damned excited. I have lost 46 pounds since July 21, and I am really feeling like this is going to work. Part of me feels like this is the impossible dream, but I am losing.

So because of my success, I think Dr Leung is awesome. My hero....

Can anyone tell me if Dr. Leung has a specific BMI you must meet? How tall are you?

I believe the minimum BMI is 35. I had a consult with Dr Leung last month and got a July surgery date but ended up going with Dr Woodhead in Delta, BC. Only had a 4-6 week wait between my consult and surgery date. I was banded last Wednesday 05/14.
