I posted a 3 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop that still worked as good as the day I bought it. I just didn't need it since I got a new one and DH had a better one. Every single response was like, "Can you post the specs so I know if it's good enough? I already have a computer but I'll take it for free!" or, "Would you upgrade XYZ for me before I take it?", or "What else comes with it? Do you have a desk or bag or anything? Software?" That kind of behavior sickened me. It's like -- come on, it's free, what do you want?? DH posted 3 suits, all of which originally cost over $600. One cost over $1k. He's outgrown them *ahem*, and has purchaed new ones in a a larger size, so he figured there might be someone out there needing them for a job interview, or just to have on hand in case of emergency. He was asked, "Will you pay to have them tailored to fit me? I want them but not if I have to pay to make them fit."

UNBELIEVABLE!

I'm utterly speechless.

My biggest problem with freecycle are no shows. I just listed 3 huge garbage bags of clothing, nice stuff, and 4 people said they were coming and never came. I waited forever, and they never came or emailed, no further contact. Then the woman that finally came was just rude. I even helped load them into her car and she never thanked me. I would have at least said thans for the help, even if not for the clothes. People, bleech...~Mandy

i LURVE craigslist!

got my cats through a contact there. wonderful couple, great kittens.

the only problem with cl is that it seems like people flake out a lot. either they don't show up when they say they will, or they're not home when you come, or they're unprepared when you get there.

or, maybe that's just an austin thang...:) (i'm in san marcos, so spread my cl'ing between the two.)

but when it works, MAN is it great!

I've had a *lot* of people here inquiring about the laptop & clothes. I didn't think to add that we'd since given them away. Sorry about that.

hey, not a problem...i've done the freecycle thing a couple of time myself. my pet peeve is people misrepresenting that something works. "oh it worked when i put it in the garage, should still work", only to find out you drove 25 miles one way o haul away their 50 lb doorstopper for them.

some are honest, some are not, that's the price of "free"cycling i guess

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
