6 Months Out... How Many Calories Are You All Taking In Daily?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I went to the Dr. yesterday and he was not happy with my 9week stall.. Me either.. Anyways he was pleased at the big picture of losing 71 pounds in 5.5 months, but mentioned I could do better. Snacking was my issue along with not really excersizing to the fullest. So 2 weeks ago I started tracking my intake on My Fitness Pal. Seems like being more aware of your intake will help I hope.

Checking the Patient Education Booklet that I received post surgery it says during my weightloss program I should be taking in 800 Calories and between 60 & 80 Grams of protien a day. Does this sound about right to you all? The reason I ask is because I have found other discrepancies in the book regarding Soft drinks, Sleeve Streching.. etc..

Have a great day everone!

First, I am a bit confused about why your doctor feels you could do better than 71 pounds in 5 1/2 months, I personally feel that is awesome. This isn't a race, and you are doing fabulous. As far as a stall, everyone experiences those at some point. Most of us experience several of them. I have found that doing the infamous "5 day pouch test" usually works for getting me back on track.

I have always strived for about 60 grams of Protein a day, and that has worked well for me. At six months out, I was averaging around 800 calories a day, and other than going for daily walks, no exercise. I admit, I was a pretty lazy girl, lol. At a couple of years out, I average between 1100-1200 calories a day and do try to get in my exercise, especially now that I realize the importance of it for long term weight loss and maintenance.

At any rate, don't feel down about what you have lost, you are doing amazing, and don't let anyone, including your doctor tell you otherwise!

Wow... I'm 4 1/2 months out and have lost 57 since the actual surgery (but 102, total). I set a goal of 10 pounds per month, and have met that except for this month. I hit the 100 pound mark and immediately stalled. But that's ok! Better than stalling at 99!! So I think you're doing REALLY well!

To answer your question, I'm eating between 800 and 1300 calories a day. I hate that I can so easily consume 1300 calories, even when eating well. However, I found that when I ate about the same amount each day, I just stopped losing, even at 800. So now I do 800 about 3 days a week, around 1000 to 1100 3 days a week, and about 1300 one day (usually when we eat out and I'm getting more calorie-dense foods). I can eat half to one cup of food at a time now, depending on what it is. I'm now actively working on not eating until I'm full, because I don't want to ever eat more than this. It's hard. Really hard.

I have bad joints and can't exercise much, but I try to swim every other day and I've just added a resistance band/stability ball routine on the other days.

I wouldn't worry about where you are. Just ask yourself if you're doing your best, and if you are, then that's where you're supposed to be!

Thank you Writergirl... I needed the reinforcement. I can do better. It is hard. I feel great and my energy level is through the roof.

Susan, I will do the 5 day thing the next time I stall... seems simple enough... I appreciate you posting that for me(us)

Thank you again .

im 7 months out and 130 pounds down. im around 1200 calories each day and about 90 grams of protien. Each person is a little different on what they need to sustain the wieght loss. Try increasing your proiten intake to break the stall. That seemed to help me out when i hit a stall. Good job on the 71 pounds that is great.

I need to get back to logging on myfitnesspal! I'm 5.5 months out and down 69lbs. I've been bad about exercising for almost two months so my loss has been very slow for the past two months, but it's still coming off.

I consume 900-1200 calories a day, depending on how much and what I let myself snack. I sometimes go under 900 on random busy days.

My surgeon doesn't push Protein like others do. I think his guidelines are 50-70g. I use shakes on work mornings so there's 20g and I eat yogurt and cheese. I've never been a big meat eater. One good thing about eating meat is its very filling and sticks with me longer than other Proteins.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work. I think surgeons want us to loos as much as we can quickly while we're in the "honeymoon" phase with our sleeves.

I think I had lost 70 at 4.5 months. You lose the most in the first six months. I am going on month 13 and am still losing, but my restriction is still crazy and I am only hungry sometimes. I probably ate 600 to 800 calories at 6 months, but everyone is different. I didn't work out, and I never stalled. Things will slow down so that is why the first six months are so important to get the bulk of the weight off.

I eat between 750 and 800 calories a day. I'm in a stall and am pretty obsessed with hiking these days. I am a little over 5 months out and down 71 pounds.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
