mzcoug01 5 Posted June 19, 2012 Sorry I haven't been on much like I hoped to be. I have had dehydration issues and have required iv fluids. 5/29 - follow up visit- rehydrated 6/9 & 6/17 - visited ER 2x - rehydrated 6/12 - follow up visit- rehydrated I don't have it as bad as some folks and should be more thankful. I don't want to complain but this is so frustrating!!! I am also off work an additional week and feel bad for my coworkers. The quite tempermental, aging, room size, dial tone computers are giving them an awful time by breaking themselves frequently (especially the large one). Fixing them is my specialty. I feel some guilt from not being there to take care of them. I have learned that toast is quite the challenge for me. I am going to wait awhile to try it again. I don't want to get into trouble again anytime soon. I need to get back to work. I am still learning this process of eating with this new pouch! Thanks for listening to me vent! iegal 460 Posted June 19, 2012 Advice you already know. Sip often. I used a timer for every 15 minutes I slowly dribbled a shot glass full of sugar free gatorade/poweraide down my throat. Difficult but I never went to the ER. You need to take charge of your own hydration. Um, toast already? bread is often a no no for many sleevers until 6 months out. Is this on your diet plan from your surgeon? No matter what, hang in there, things do get better. 1 2bsmallagain reacted to this
mandyslife 0 Posted June 19, 2012 I'm a year and 3 months out and by far NOT an expert but I know this... You need to drink fluids or if you like fruit try watermellon, strawberries ect. they have alot of Fluid content. I landed myself in the ER twice and it's never fun. As for toast/bread I try not to eat it! I have a problem with charbs .. I love them so I try to avoid them. I hope it helps and eventually you will learn your new body give yourself time. You can do it and work will always be there take care of YOU first! A hard lesson to learn I know..
Back~To~Amy 307 Posted June 19, 2012 Um' date=' toast already? bread is often a no no for many sleevers until 6 months out. Is this on your diet plan from your surgeon?[/quote'] You've gotten some really good advice. I just wanted to comment on the above. My doctor allow WELL TOASTED bread starting on day 22 as its supposed to be easier to handle than non-toasted bread or other bread like foods such as pancakes. I'm still on mushies, but I don't imagine bread, even well toasted, will be at the top of my list of foods to try. It just seems like its not good on a "new" tummy. At least not mine anyway. 1 2bsmallagain reacted to this
mzcoug01 5 Posted June 20, 2012 Thanks for the advice. Three of my meds were causing trouble and discontinued (Byetta, Lisinopril & Theophylline). Apparently the theophylline was a really big problem since it is a diruetic in addition to being used for asthma treatment. I have brittle asthma type 2 and had to take it instead of the prednisone for the surgery. Yes, toast is on my diet. The nutritionist told me to postpone having it for awhile.
