wolf3749 2 Posted June 19, 2012 I was sleeved on the 13. I'm not doing too bad on the liquids. I don't hate the shakes. What I want to do sooooo bad is chug a huge bottle of ice cold Water. The thoughtt is making me salivate. The thing I worry about is people talk about puking and feeling full. I haven't really had that. I'm 5 days out and can totally drink 4oz of water in 15 min. No problem, no pain, want more......What about u?
angelakay2 117 Posted June 19, 2012 I had my surgery on the 13th as well and I am on clear liquid for 2 weeks. I never thought I would be looking forward to the Protein shakes again but dang! I am! i would KILL some baby food right now!! That's desperate. I think it's because I was on 2 weeks liquid pre-op as well. I still feel groggy too. I reckon that's anesthesia. 1 kraftwrk reacted to this
SteveD 1 Posted June 19, 2012 I had my sleeve on 6/12/12 and advanced from Clear Liquids to full liquids while still in the hospital. It has been one week and I ave one more week to go on full liquids before advancing to the mushy phase. Why are on Clear Liquids for so long? How are you getting your Protein on clear liquidds? Most solid food I can have on this phase is cream of wheat. Anyone else similar to my menu?

missmachine 100 Posted June 19, 2012 Had my surgery on the 11th, Was instructed to do 1 wk of clear liquids, 1 wk of full liquids, 2 wks of soft foods. SO hating the liquid diet, even on full liquids, pudding and Jello gets old and it makes me want to puke just thinking about it. My mom made some homemade chicken Soup w/o noodles and I put it in the blender to make it all broth... was delicious, but still hurt a bit. Liquids just go right through me so I never really am feeling full, or at least not for too long. I sip all day long on Water, tea, broth, etc. Hope that's ok. Kiloalphatango 13 Posted June 19, 2012 the post op liquid thing isn't bothering me (day 6 PM now for me), I'm stressing about the amount of sugar I'm getting thou! Its WAY too much! today, 2 Optifast shakes, 200g kids choc custard, 1/4 cup of Soup (stopped cos it was too sweet), 1/2 cup banana custard + sugar free cordial in my drinks thru the day - my fitness pal is in meltdown! Everything else I have to have more of, but the sugar is in the red! eeeeeek total calories 543, carbs 78, fat 11, Protein 31, sugar 61! AHHHHHH Maybe ill stop trying to mix it up so much and just live on Optifast shakes. (that won't go wrong at all! hahaha)
missmachine 100 Posted June 19, 2012 I've been getting about that much sugar too. You have to remember in comparison to what you were having before this is a big change. You are doing well.

SteveD 1 Posted June 19, 2012 Funny how different doctors have differing philosophies. My Doctor did an upper GI the morning after surgery to detect for leaks and at that point was put on clear liquids. The next day which was the morning of discharge I was given the go ahead to advance to full liquids. Nothing with chunks. Soups, yogurt with no chunks, juices with low sugar, and the closest thing to solid is cream of wheat as long as it is a pourable consistency, and Protein shakes. Only very specific Protein Shakes though, like Premier Protein shakes from costco or Sam's Club due to the fact that they are low-no sugar. I was told to avoid the Optifast shakes I had pre-surgery because of the sugar but I guess since you can't eat anything else besides clear liquids, your doctor wants you to get your Protein in some how.
