LDS Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I just wonder if your wife might reconsider. I was a HUGE drinker at meals. I'd go out to eat and drink 4 sodas and still eat every bite of my meal. I thought that would be so tough...now I don't EVEN think about it...or miss it. Keep encouraging her to consider the band. It has changed my life and 65 lbs down after 7 months I feel wonderful. :frown:

much like my "member missionary" i hope to convert her by example. similarly, i am not going to actively convert her to a bandster. i do take a few small drinks with my meals...hard habit to break.

we shall see.......

that is a gorgeous temple. kind of reminds me or Orlando a bit, where we were married.

What a sight to wake up to. No excuses for not going to the temple! The nearest to us is a bit over 100 miles. Actually that is the closest we have ever been to a Temple.

very sad indeed but to know that he is no longer in pain and with his eternal companion and his and our Heavenly Father is a great joy too.

Very Sad - I woke up to the news of his passing this morning. He was such a wonderful person and leader. We will all miss him.

Ok...off topic. NSV for the day, I'm now wearing a size smaller Gs than when I first got them. I lost weight on my mission and didn't drop a G size...now, I'm down a size. YEAH!!!

Sad? When I first got the text, a smile went on my face.

How wonderful it is to have that great man move to the next phase of his work. And how great is the Lord and the work on earth to be moving forward with a new Prophet.

I'm so thankful President Hinkley passed away when he did. My mother is on hospice and I've had mixed emotions.

Raised a Baptist, Catholic, Methodist...just whereever mom took us that Sunday.... I don't have the foundation in the purpose of life and the purpose of death like those children raised by members.

I've been taught, that's for sure. And now I understand. But the real test of it came when President Hinkley passed away. That smile that came without any concious doing on my part.... now I KNOW...I don't have to wonder anymore.

President Hinckley was such a wonderful man and prophet. Even my children always knew that there was something special about him. I can remember when my one son was in third grade and had to answer a trivia question at school. The question was "who is the president". He came to me after school and told me how he knew he got it correct, he was so excited. I asked him what he put as an answer, he stated President Hinckley, of course. He was the only president that mattered to him. I'll never forget that moment.

I look forward to all that President Monson has in store for us now. I've grown to love him also.

I loved Pres. Hinkley too, He is my Prophet, I joined the Church 7 years ago. Surprisingly I wasn't sad at all, I was filled with joy, knowing where he is and that he is with his wife again. I bet he had a very peaceful passing. Can you imagine how he passed, knowing where he is going and who is waiting for him. No worries. He was the Prophet! I can't even imagine. What a great example he was for the world.

I'm excited to learn more about Pres. Monson.

I have to say that having the knowledge of knowing why we are here and what the purpose of life is is so comforting. It just makes life so much more meaningful.

President Monson has been one of my fav speakers for a long time. i have read a few of his books. i once wrote him a letter telling him i enjoyed one, and actually got a response. I am excited to have him as our Prophet, and look forward to going to GC in april to sustain him. But i will not be going to my assigned stake center to do so, as it is about 10 miles away, and there is a stake directly across the park from the back of my house. i will go there.

MIZTER-ok, it's funny to see that your stake center is too far being 10 miles away, but the one behind your house is good. lol.

Oh to be in the land of Mormons! The closest I have lived to my stake center is about 60 miles, it's 92 miles away now.

Is anyone else sad that Mitt Romney dropped out? I was hoping he would make it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
