Question about Moderators

Recommended Posts

Cell phones, computers, email- nothing is private. If you dont want it publicized-- Dont say it!! Formatting a computer doesnt erase the information. It just may make it take 8 hours instead of 1-2 to get info. I guess if you really want to get rid of something you better get a really big magnet and get busy.

BTW, of all the messageboards I use, and there are a lot, I know of one that monitors PMs. This is done because of the nature of the board. In the messageboard community it is a practice that is frowned upon, even if you warn your users up front that it may happen. So the odds of anyone associated with the board having access to your PMs is already... insignificant. In fact, the odds of a hacker getting to your PMs and reading them are greater than that of an admin or mod doing it, just based on the sheer number of messageboard hackers vs. nosey admins.

How would moderators and members feel if they knew a moderator made fake screen names to play games with the board? Or what if a moderator used her moderator status to provide private moderator information with friends for the sake of playing games while lying to the entire board that it wasn’t them? What if this same moderator used the luxury of locking threads before the truth came out? Would you feel betrayed? Would you continue to feel comfortable that your posts were being treated fairly? Would you feel safe and secure even after any shred of integrity was demolished? If being a moderator caused one such distress and angst would you wish that person to continue their voluntary position? Or would you encourage that person to continue since everyone likes her? Is it based on like, or trust? Would that make it a double bann considering that person abused both their membership privileges as well as their moderator privileges?

If you're looking to make a point, save everyone time and just make it. If there's something you're wanting to say, just say it. Other mods may feel differently, but personally - I really don't have time or inclination for (literally and figuratively) a game of 20 questions.

My guess it's someone with multiple User Names. It happens.

How do mods handle this? I know this happens a lot. Kathy makes an interesting point. Do mods have the ability for more than one screen name? Just wondering. :)

Just from my point of view, when you are a mod, you are in a thankless job. you are a mod because you care about the board, and love it and want to see it running smooth. the last thing a mod is going to do is create multiple accounts to screw with people and make trouble. and there is no reason for a mod to have multiple accounts. But I will say that being a mod, on the boards that I am on, does not change your ability to register multiple times for multiple accounts. The simple fact is there is just no reason to.

Mods are users, so just like users, I would guess they could have multiple names. Just like users do.

If you mean - having more than one moderator account so they can snoop around without being seen....

It's somewhat irrelevant, most boards have the ability for a moderator to ppear "offline" if they so wish. This means they can attend to their duties without being disturbed.

None of our concern :)

It's actually not a bad thread though, I guess a few people had some questions answered about the illustrious moderator and admin team

I consider it a good thing.

Heh,

I think I'll go for... "It is my belief that it was Alex, in the background, with a keyboard."

ROFL good one dawg.

I agree. Even though we don't know the intent of the thread, i think it is good every now and again for people to hear how much a mod can and can't do, and why they do it. it really is a thankless job, and done out of pure love and want for the board to be the best it can be.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
