Let me clarify, I have never been a huge belcher! A ladylike burp here or there was no big deal especially drinking something like a coke or a beer. NOW, I’m wondering if the Doctor not only took out my stomach but if he removed my ability to burp as well??? I have severe restriction and gas buildup after the slightest bit of food or even a sip or two of Water. I take OTC Prilosec every day faithfully. I’m almost 3 weeks post-op. haven’t had a gas x strip in a while because I havent had the gas pains from surgery in a long time. Thinking I may try those again though. Other than that I feel great! I walk 2 miles a day and have no problems what-so-ever! My only problem is I can’t get any relief from a burp…..my burper is broken!!!

 Anyone else have this problem or offer any advice?

YES!! I was like you; only little lady-like burps, but now it is nada. I hear all these folks complaining about the belching, but I am in the complete opposite direction. It can be VERY uncomfortable. If I try to, my stomach contents will come back up. It's been this way since the beginning and now I am 4 months out. I'm just starting to accept it as my lot.

I can still burp, but I always have gas! So disturbing. Now I take gas x, beano, omeprazole and still have some gas. I really hate having to take these meds! ;)

Let me start by saying WOW…..92# in 4 months? Incredible and congrats!!!

Yep, I’ve lost it….I can no longer burp and it drives me up the wall! If I try to force the burp I’ll vomit! Tried the gas x strips today and no relief. I take it this will be one of those nasty side effects of being a skinny minni….GUESS I’LL JUST HAVE TO ACCEPT!

DO YOU GUYS EVER DO THE GURGLE STUFF IN THE BACK OF YOUR THROAT? THATS WHAT I DO ALL THE TIME. CAN BE EMBARRASSING IF OUT IN PUBLIC!

Thank you :) and look at the bright side; if anyone ever gets snarkie with you and says, " yeah, and I'm sure your poop doesn't stink," you can say, "I don't burp either :P!" LOL

Yes, I get the throat gurgle. It's like a slow leak in a partially opened can of coke. Some times it makes a little sound like a dog yawning  . Maybe no one will ever tell me "down girl" hehe

Yep, I'm a gurgle girl now too! Weirdest thing, huh? All it takes is 2 sips of liquid and I sound like a bull frog!

HAHAHA!

I'm a post-op-non-burper too!

Pre-op I would burp all the time (never in public) if I had stomach gas.... Now post op I cant! If I try it feels like I may bring up solids instead of gas.

I think it has to do with the aggressive haital hernia repair I had done same time as VSG. Not sure though.

I miss my burps cause the "rock gas" feeling I get if I have gas or ate too much is terribly painful!!!
