angelakay2 117 Posted June 18, 2012 This was my first bout of anesthesia. I feel thirsty even though I am drinking s much as possible. I still have some lingering gas and I am walking as much as I can. My problem that is causing me anxiety is how weak I feel. I still feel queasy, weak, dizzy and out of it. Should I be worried or is this normal? It's really making me anxious!
shangefan 193 Posted June 18, 2012 I will be posted in a few weeks, so perhaps someone who has gone through this already will respond to your question. I have seen posts fro several people, however, who indicated that it took a few weeks for them to feel "normal" again. It probably is partly the result of undergoing major surgery and having a major reduction in your intake of calories and nutrients. 1 angelakay2 reacted to this
Amytequilahouse 184 Posted June 18, 2012 Try walking and getting fluids in. The weakness is normal I started feeling better after the Gatorade 02. That made the dIzziness go away.
buffalogal 52 Posted June 18, 2012 Surgery is a major stress on the body. I haven't done this yet, but I have been through major surgery, and it is tough. Make sure you are getting your fluids, and don't hesitate to call your dr. if you are concerned. That's what he/she is there for. 1 angelakay2 reacted to this

I uses to suck on ice, popsicles and sugar free candy. I will pray for you. 1 priscillajoy reacted to this

First and foremost...Congrats on your smoking AND your losing! You are doing fabulous!!! As for the Gatorade, I was told i couldn't have it yet but will definitely keep that in mind when I can! I have been drinking Water and diluted apple juice.
Ready4success 380 Posted June 18, 2012 Angela, Make sure you're not overdoing it. It's ok to walk, but moms tend to find things to do around the house when they're supposed to be relaxing. Walk, sip, rest. Anesthesia takes a huge toll on your body, regardless of the type of surgery, so make sure you're still taking it easy.
Back~To~Amy 307 Posted June 18, 2012 I second what the others said. I'm only 12 days out but its amazing the difference I feel from when I was 4 days out. The most important thing is to get your fluids. You don't wanna get dehydrated. The weakness and gas are normal. 1 Amytequilahouse reacted to this

PollyBlue 22 Posted June 18, 2012 Yay for Amy kicking the dreaded fags....my doc said quitting was harder than giving up heroin (hopefully he didn't say that from personal experience...lol). It took me a good couple of months to feel "myself" again....without vague discomforts and fatigue (and vagueness). Now I feel like a completely refreshed and new version of my old self with a bucketload more energy. It wasn't an easy road, but it was definitely one worth taking. Congratulations.
