Learning The Hard Way

Recommended Posts

I can't ever seem to do things the easy way, yesterday I went to dinner with my husband and ordered cream chicken Soup. While we were talking, I was spooning in soup until I realized that the last swallow did not feel right. I overate for the first time since my sleeve. I probably ate 3.5 oz before I realized what I had done and up till then the most I've ate is 2 oz at one time. I was in so much discomfort, full to almost pain for a few hours. I bought some plastic 2 oz cups today and from now on I'm going to take those with me and pre-measure my food. Today was another learning lesson, my husband & son got fresh strawberry milkshakes on our way to a Father's Day dinner and I decided to have some, probably had 1.5 oz. Within a half hour of getting to the party, I felt flushed, sweaty, had twisting gas pain, and finally diarrhea. Classic dumping syndrome. So this weekend has been about learning lessons the hard way.

Unfortunately, we sometimes do learn things the hard way. The only up side to that is that we learn them permanently that way! :) Hope you're feeling better soon! :)

I hate it when I have to learn things the hard way. I haven't had times where I've thrown up just feeling stuffed. When eating and I'm full I get a cloudy visual sensation in my brain and I know I'm done so o stop. Today I ate pastrami and some onion rings and I was full. I am going to start measuring my food starting tomorrow morning. I would hate to stretch my sleeve and gain weight. :)

I have been talking to a local gal that I met on the forum and she's 6 months out from hers and doing awesome. She told me the same thing - trial and error - I just hope I don't have much error lol I hate to be sick so I guess it will be another 5 weeks (that's about when I will be back to eating at least mushy food) before I can start testing the waters with the foods I am able to eat. One thing I really hope I can tolerate at least a little is a creamy salsa - I LOVE mexican food and I have a yummy salsa that I love - it's not chunky in any way and I was kind of hoping I could use maybe a little tiny bit on egg beaters once I scramble them up

I haven't been able to tolerate anything Tomato based yet, my sleeve is just too sensitive. I hope it works for you though. eggs with a bit of cheese have been great, but mostly I still eat cream Soups & yogurt. I wish you the best, this does seem to be a battle of trial & error.

Thanks - I just looked at a bottle of tea I drink all the time and see I can't have that anymore either ugh - 75 grams of carbs. :( Oh well the yogurt will be good. I good suggestion to do to change the morning Protein Shakes up - a cup of Decaf coffee mixed in with it - iced coffee :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
