Estella 11 Posted June 17, 2012 7 Months post-op. I lost 33 kilos, down from 115 kg to 82 kg (from 253 lbs to 180 lbs). I know 82 kg doesn't sound skinny, but I am also very tall so the results are to my liking. I buy size 40 jeans (size 30 in jeans measurements, size 12 in EU sizes or size 8 US), I feel much better about my body and my life in general. The great surprise was that my period returned - it appears once a month, which is something that never happened before. The other side effects of PCOs, however, are here to stay: the excess hair on my face, the dark Patches of skin on the feet and neck (my sugar levels were always okay, so it wasn't diabetes). Seeing that losing so much weight did not help me get rid of the facial hair, I started taking Yasmin contraceptive pills. The doctor says that within 3 months I should see some improvement. Will update if it works. 1 ElyQuint reacted to this

ashleyxx 277 Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) From what I have read once the hair has come in it will stay, it might become finner or grow slower but it will stay. I have a lot and its so annoying, I feel like I have to tweeze everyday! The dark Patches of skin has become lighter, on my neck it is almost gone, but in some other areas its still there, I hope that when I get around goal it will be gone. I was thinking of getting laser treatment around Christmas, I dont have the money at the moment, I would just be so happy to get rid of the hair on the chin area it bothers me the most, it makes me feel like a man, I could deal with the upper lip hair because that area is smaller and not as much. ETA- I would like to hear how the Yasmin works, keep us updated! Edited June 17, 2012 by Ashleyxx

Is it something you will have to do for the rest of your life? Or once you have so many it basicly gets rid of the hair?
isajck 229 Posted July 30, 2012 A question for all, was there any change in the facial hair? Frequency of return, thickness, anything? I have PCOS and while I know the sleeve is not a miracle cure, I was at least hoping there would be some change in the facial hair.< /p> Oh and I've tried laser hair removal and electolysis and both only worked short time. The minute I stopped treatment the hair returned to its previous frequency and thickness, quickly with electroylsis and after about a year with the laser. Just my experience, as usual anyone else's could be different.

This might be kind of a newbie question, but do you have to continue this forever? Or is there a treatment that will remove it permanently?
KristiP 51 Posted July 30, 2012 I'm interested in hearing about improvements in the facial hair side of things. I've got pcos, formally diagnosed about 6 years ago but have had increasingly worse symptoms since about 1995. I am in no way exaggerating when I say I own upwards of 20 pars of tweezers. I keep a pair stashed everywhere: in my car, my purse, my desk, nearly every room of my house, my husbands car (he doesn't know that though!), at my in laws.......forget the American Express card-I don't leave home without tweezers! Aside from the ingrown ones, I don't even need a mirror anymore. Any time someone looks at me too intently or too long I get really insecure....just KNOW one has sprouted, scurry to the nearest mirror the moment I can. I have noticed women with facial hair and so I just assume other people can see it on me, if I haven't yanked it out by the root. And what the h is THAT about? Remember when they used to tell us not to be too aggressive with plucking our eyebrows because you damage the root and they don't grow back? How come that doesn't work with facial hair? I reckon pulling them out only stimulates hardier growth myself, but I cannot leave the house with this crP on my face! I actually use an emjoi (made for legs!) on my chin, jaw, and throat daily and then go back with tweezers. Every. Single. Morning. And then tweeze throughout the day as I discover them. It's so time consuming, and annoying, and I just feel so unfeminine. I nearly die of embarrassment when my husband catches me plucking...... I've never tried laser or electrolysis. Waxing breaks me out. I shaved ONCE, and oh what a mistake THAT was. 2 hawkihoops and ashleyxx reacted to this
StartingOver2012 2 Posted July 30, 2012 I did laser treatment a few years ago and it has been A-MAZ-ING. Wish I hadnt waited so long to do it. Like you, I took tweezers everywhere, had a razor stashed in my car in case I forgot. Since lazer treatments I have a few hairs that pop up - not sure if they're new ones or ones that were missed in the first go around. I also take spironolactone pills daily which are meant to inhibit the Hair growth. I think they work because those new hair also came up when I took a break from taking them. Highly recommend laser treatments tho. If you've got groupon or living social in your area, I've seen some great specials on there.
karkhipo 1 Posted July 30, 2012 girls try this on http://www.amazon.com/Remington-EP6025-Recharegeable-Epilator-Attachment/dp/B003H6FPVI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1343624660&sr=8-4&keywords=facial+epilator I also have PCOS and it drives me crazy! I started using this epilator 6 months ago and I can tell you that hair grows less and thinner and I am using it twice a week now. I am not good with a pain, but with this one I actually feel no pain. I used Yazmin for hole year, I had horrible haedaches and I was feeling a lot of presure in my head especially when I was trying to move my head or get something from the floor. so, I am not going back to yazmin

I hope to get laser at some point, but right now I am like KristiP with the tweezers and small magnifying mirrors stashed everywhere. ugh!
