hi there, we all have these typical emotions before we are sleeved. Happy, scared. nervous, excited, its totally common. but thats ok - just shows you are normal, so to speak ;)

these next 2 weeks preparing you for your long jouney through life are really great, emotional, but great

whey is what i had too. Hate to say this but you gotta suck it up....hmmmmm - pun there ;)

my late grandma - always gave my siblings and i these terrible tight perms. She would say "you have to suffer to look beautiful"

I guess you could change that to say you have to "suffer" to be healthy, happy, and as a bonus maybe a little thinner too, and unfortunately drink your whey - and deal with other things that you might not enjoy.l

Good luck

kathy

Shelbi, Protein Shakes are definitely not the best-tasting thing in the world. Check out The World According to Egg Face (blog) for a ton of recipes to help make them taste better. You can order samples of several kinds from Amazon, or Unjury. The samples may help you find one that tastes better to you. I like the Premier Protein shakes they sell at Sams and costco. They taste pretty good to me now.

Be warned that what you like pre-op may NOT taste decent to you post op. I couldn't stand the Protein immediately post-op because they were all way too sweet for me. I drank a lot of chicken and beef broth during my Clear Liquids stage.

If nothing else, like likusalema says, the pre-op diet is only for two weeks and you may have to just gut through it. It's a small price to pay to shrink your liver and lose some weight pre-surgery. And having the sleeve done will help you lose the weight and improve your health (and appearance, btw) so that you have a longer life. :)

I didn't think of it that way. Every time I have to drink those I will say that. Maybe it will make it easier. Thank you

We all go through a rainbow of emotions before and after surgery. It is normal to have second thoughts. My surgery was much smoother and my recovery was quicker because I listened to my doctor and stuck to the Protein Shakes. Try Premier Protein chocolate -- It almost tastes like chocolate milk. Also, feel free to check out my blog because I write a lot about how I survived all the fears, emotions, and one month of Protein shakes. I'm 4 months out and looking back at it, that one month seems like a far away memory and I have no regrets.

Thank you both for helping me. I did try something different with my whey Protein this morning and it tasted pretty good, but I am always up for trying new protein and new recipes. Thank you.

And thank you for cheering me up about my surgery. One thing I am afraid of is problems during the surgery, but I have lost all the weight I need to and I listen to the doctor and nutritionist. And because of what you all have said I feel confidant that everything will be fine. Thank you.

The fear of complications during surgery is very normal. I was afraid that either I would never wake up, have a heart attack during surgery, or that the doctor would accidental cut an artery and I would bleed out. But here's the thing. This surgery is "routine" and my doctor does 6 or 8 of them a week. Also, it is very similar to a gallbladder/spleen/appendix surgery. When you think of all the surgeries being performed every day with no complications, you need to have faith that yours will be just as smooth.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
