Florida Sleevers - Meet Up?

Recommended Posts

After talking to a couple of folks on here in PM, I've decided to see how much interest there may be out there in a South Florida meet up. I'm specifically aiming this at those on the Space and Treasure Coasts, although any Florida Sleever is welcome to attend if they like.

Once I see how much interest there is in a meet-up, then we'll decide on a place and time. I'm thinking it will probably be in Vero Beach.

Let's see if we have any interest out there. I know there are at least half a dozen posters that are within 30 miles of Vero, and there are probably quite a few lurkers. Now is the time to un-lurk! :)

I think that sounds like a great idea! Although Vero is an hour from me.

A lot of the people that I know are in this general area would be coming from Melbourne and Okeechobee, so Vero may prove to be the most central location. We'll see who all is interested and then decide where to meet. :) Everything is pretty loose right now. :)

Sound like a great idea! I'm not a sleever yet but would like to attend and learn from all of your experiences.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
