Fiber Anyone?

My surgeon has suggested I begin now taking benefiber daily.

Is there a increased incidence of Constipation associated with lapband?

I was constipated from the anesthesia but haven't had problems since. It took about 3 weeks to sort out post-op.

Oh I have....I too was told to try Benefiber. I have yet to buy any I am trying to eat Activa once a day to see if that helps first.

If you eat well, there's no real reason to be constipated with a lapband.

I still eat wholegrain cereals, wholegrain bread, fruit and a big bowl of steamed veges every single day and have never had a problem.

Its another reason not to be too tight, restrict your calorie intake too low etc.

My doctor recommended it for me because I have hemorrhoids and since I am eating less and have smaller bulk, It could create a problem for me. Of course I still make certain I get as much Fiber in my diet as I can.

I had a terrible problem the first 8 weeks. This was the opposite problem I've had all my life so a new experience for me. It was so bad I had to have an enema. Next time I tried Milk of magnesia. Several days of that. I am eating Activia every day and back on food. That seems to be helping. I have problems when I have to go on liquids and mushies after fills. I also increased my Water intake which is also helping. Benefiber didn't seem to do it for me.
