Saw my pcp for some back pain I am having. I have never had back pains before, even at my heaviest. I thought I did something to cause this but he says that it is my body realigning itself. With a bigger stomach and breasts my body was pulling forward all the time and now I stand straight up and there isn't this huge stomach weighing me forward. Is anyone else experiencing this? He told me to take a muscle relaxer for 5 nights before bed only to break the spasms. Make sure I stretch before exercising and after.

I have been having lower back pain for over a month. My doctor has run a bunch of tests and found nothing wrong. Just like you my doctor said it is probably my body adjusting to the weight loss.

I have had back pain that has worsened the more weight Ioose as well- I do have a documented herniated disk in 3 places in my back. I notice the more Ioose the different I stand, the different I sit etc... the weight is somewhat shifted and I am now sitting in/on bones I didnt feel before- I am side sleeper- same thing- my knees are bone on bone now and hurt mid night and I have to change posisitons- Its weird... I have seen a few doctors who just encourage me to keep exercising and make sure to do core strengthing- I avoid pivoting too much at my waist because that is what aggravates my problem...

This is almost exactly what my pcp told me would happen. She prescribed naproxen and told me to deal with it that it would eventually pass

Yes, this has been happening to me. I get chiropractic adjustments and massages. This really helps. My chiropractor gave me stretches and back strengthing exercises which seem to help.

My back has been hurting me lately. I bet I have the same issue. I didn't even think about that being an issue.

My back started hurting me directly after surgery. I had lost 70 prior to surgery but I am assuming my back is hurting because of the pressure they used during surgery. I had hernia surgery and adhesions removed and I had a complication during surgery. I'm also two weeks out today and still can't lay on my side and there's no way I'd be able to sleep on my stomach like I normally do.

When I had my gallbladder out I was able to roll to the side while in the hospital.

Thanks so much for posting. My back has been killing me. And it had gotten so much better. It's good to know its probably the weight loss. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
