skowronski777 5 Posted June 16, 2012 I quit 4/20/12!! Yay! I do miss is sometimes but I've known since Thanksgiving when I began this whole journey that I needed to quit 2 months before surgery and will be tobacco tested at my pre-op appt, which is 7/17. For awhile, in the back of my mind I was thinking I could have one occasionally after surgery but I know in my head this isn't good. Plus now that I'm almost at 2 months since quitting I don't want to break my streak. 1 MinaT reacted to this
Nate 292 Posted June 16, 2012 You're far better off without them. I quit 3 years ago, and even still get the urge to light up every now and then. But I know I can't. I've worked too hard and gone far too long to change it. And even though it's only been a few month neither should you! 1 serenekolaski reacted to this
karenb4729 309 Posted June 16, 2012 I quit in 2004 and realized at that time that I couldn't have one cigarette pass my lips because I would be right back to a pack a day in no time. It was the best thing I ever did for myself and one of the things that I used in preparing for this surgery. After all, if I could quit smoking, which was something that I really loved to do, then I could quit eating food that wasn't good for me. Now that I have said all that I do find a passing craving for a cigarette now and then, its usually when I spot a butt on the ground that was barely smoked.... never in my smoking life would I have picked a butt up off the ground but in my non-smoking life its been a temptation... go figure! 1 MinaT reacted to this
