I had surgery just this Monday and any pills I have to take' date=' I have to crush them. Most of them taste so gross and bitter, yuck! When were you allowed to start swallowing pills whole?

Thanks![/quote']

I met with my doc after two wks and he said that it was ok as long as they weren't big pills...and when you do crush them it might help if you mix them with a lil apple sauce to dull the taste or get your doc to give u liquid meds. <<<They taste nasty too but alot better than the crushed meds.

For whatever reason it's worse for me to crush and then try to get that powder in to something. I just cut them in to little pieces and chew each little piece up really quick. I don't know if that helps or not!

Oh yea, my morning routine right now is to open my Prilosec in some SF pudding, adding into it a few of my other meds. Mix it up and .... yuck!

Day after surgery.

However, I do request that any new medications be prescribed in liquid or sub lingual form as I don't like the idea of pills rolling around in my sleeve. The only pills I swallow are EffexorXR and Protonix.

I have also been taking them whole since the day after surgery. I have to wait to take Vitamins till I am 2 weeks out and then those have to be chewable or liquid. I am taking synthroid, an antinausea pill, and antacid whole a couple of times a day and haven't had a problem.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
