Yes, it can be. It's normal to stretch it over time. The key is to not stretch it back to where your stomach was prior to surgery. Just follow the plan and eat right and you should be ok. :)

Yes, over eating or drinking can stretch your stomach out. Think of it as a balloon that you continue to blow up, let the air out, blow up again, eventually the balloon is bigger, that is the same concept of a stomach.

From what I was told from my surgeon and from research I've done on my own, it can be stretched A LITTLE bit, but it will never be able to be stretched out to the size it was before surgery because the more elastic part of the stomach is what was taken out. What is left does not stretch much. My surgeon said that throughout time, it will stretch a little and you might be able to eat 2 cups of food instead of 1 cup, but it won't get huge again.

That being said, my plan is not to push my limits. Just because it will stretch some over time does not mean I have to eat more. If I can eat 1/2 cup to a cup at a meal now, I'm going to stick to that & not eat more just because I can possibly eat more.

Although the sleeve will not stretch much, it is still possible to gain weight again with constant bad choices in foods - at least from what my surgeon told me.

This is what I was told. But you can always eat yourself big again with bad choices. You don't have to eat a lot to eat bad.

My surgeon's PA was telling me that they have some people coming in and asking to have their staple line tighten because they stretched his/her stomach. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
