I had mine on for about a week. It SUCKED when they yanked the booger out! They did it fast like a band aid... Omg. If anyone wants to see a pic of a drain. With drainage Fluid, I might be able to provide one... Lol.

I had mine for 8 days. My doctor's office provided me with a lanyard to hang around my neck and the tubing from the drain was looped through that. It kept the drain from pulling anywhere and I tucked the bulb into my bra while dressed to hide it. It was a pain to deal with, but it didn't hurt.

OMG.. a lanyard is genius! I thought that the little drain bag had to be lower than the opening in the skin.

I never heard that the drain bag had to be lower than the opening. I don't believe it works on gravity, but on suction, which is why you have to squeeze the air out of it when you drain the bulb. Mine worked fine, whatever the science behind it. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
