I know im a wierdo to even think about this, but can not remember from past surgeries..are contacts a No-No during surgery?

I've worn them daily for over 20 yrs & am just so used to it. But if I have to wear glasses for surgery I'll just leave the contacts at home & wear glasses the whole time...it will be easier in the long run.

Yep, you'll need your glasses. I left contacts and home and wore glasses the entire time.

.

are glasses or contacts a No-No during surgery?

I can't see the nose in front of my face without my glasses.

Through all my surgeries, I was never asked or told to wear my glasses, I didn't want to wear them anyways

good luck on WLS

I'm an OR nurse, so I'll tell you that contact lenses will have be removed before surgery because they can cause a corneal laceration while you're asleep, because you wouldn't be awake to tell the team it's hurting. Also, leave your glasses with a loved one before going into surgery. The staff doesn't want to worry about taking care of your glasses, while they're trying to take care of you. :)

I had to bring my CPAP machine, so I put my glasses in my CPAP case for surgery, which they put on my bed with me. However, everything else went home with my husband. My paperwork said to bring a glasses or contacts case since neither could actually be on/in for surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
